Paul, can I pick players that were not actually playing in 1962, as part of the free agent draft?

Could I pick Pete Rose, who didn’t play until 1963?

Can I pick Dick Allen, a Phillie, who didn’t actually play until 1963??????

Please clarify for me before I pick, thanks!!!

Since both the Reds and Phillies are franchise pick their players are not available. And and I see it the their cell is not highlighted then they are ineligible for that season.

Only players who played in '62 are eligible, Geoff. Refer to the spreadsheet for a quick look.

OK - of course that makes sense, but the accountant in me wants to drill down into the details.

Thanks!

I keep waiting for you to ask if you can amortize salaries over several years, freeing up more money for salaries right now.

Thanks for the hint, Paul! Eddie Yost has a "back diving" contract, which brings his "average annual salary" down nicely for salary cap purposes!
