I thought that your personal problem was much larger than it actually is. The problem is that you can't add.

Win finals four games to none: Champ gets eight points, runner up gets four (you have to already have four semis wins).
Win finals four games to one: Champ gets eight points, runner up gets five.
Win finals four games to two: Champ gets eight points, runner up gets six.
Win finals four games to three: Champ gets eight points, runner up gets seven. So HERE, the Champ gets one more point than the player who loses the finals.

But each participant received what they DESERVED, because they EARNED it on the field with WINS.

Now, PLEASE, stop embarrassing yourself.

Thank you for re-showing your personal problem, J-Pav. You're a choleric man who can't avoid making lame personal attacks, even from a commissioner's position. And you really can't handle being wrong, and you're clearly wrong now. I, myself have been perfectly polite. So, the only one embarrassing himself is you and your hysterical all-caps.

And thank you for backing up my assertion that the winner of the Finals could end up with only one more point than the loser. I appreciate your support of my argument. The rest of your ridiculous chart only further shows how your system fails to adequately reward as substantial an achievement as winning the finals in every case. However, it also shows how arbitrary it is. So, thanks again for your support.

As to "wins on the field," I debunked that erroneous theory of yours in my earlier post. Apparently you didn't read that one either:
Also, making the finals and winning the finals are just as much "wins on the field" as regular game victories. When a team wins the World Series, it wins both its game and the World Series on the field. So, making the event finals and winning the event finals are also "wins on the field." So, you can't justifiably not reward or represent them by using that excuse, which your point-plan will do.

So, Goodbye, Jeff. I want no part of your bitter vitriol or hostile attacks. I'm certainly not paying $100 for them.

I came to read about the tournament. I see the conversation begin to degenerate on page one. I skip to page four and it's still going on. Is that what's all in between as well? I genuinely can't bear to look.  :?:

Personal take on Tourney this year is I would have liked to see a 24-team $60million league and at least one Unleashed League. Furthermore, the year I choose to run the tournament is the year I can pick whatever I want, and thanks be unto JPav for doing so, benevolent dictatorship & all. Best wishes to everybody. This is a great game, I'm sure we all agree.

Good Lord, all this argument about a tournament that he never intended to join. Another bridge left smoldering in his wake. Shakes head.

I'll email you my league preference later JPav, don't worry the majority greatly appreciate your efforts.

This is where I would normally stop to poll the audience and solicit volunteers to be next year's Commissioner...

Anyway moving on again.

I had an idea earlier and it seemed so simple, I thought I must be missing something. But my plan is to try and move everything away from the emails and this how I plan to do it. Of the folks who have signed up, several just replied "Put me down for all week one leagues." So let's do this. When you sign up on the Official Tour Sign Up Sheet, you have now already committed to all five week one options by signing up. No need to check in, email, or do anything other than follow the boards as necessary and have your team ready to go. But EVERYONE still has until what I call the Deadline for Emailing to change your status to a second week player, or to bow out if you're skipping an event. So if a work assignment or non-optional family obligation forces you to reschedule, as long as it is done by the Deadline for Emailing, you can be rescheduled into the second week's league(s).

This might potentially create a few more no-shows, but that will be a me thing, not a you thing.

I will leave TourCommissioner2015@yahoo.com operational and will still monitor it for messages. However, because I imagine most people will play the first available leagues, you can now just private message (PM) me at J-Pav to advise me only if you need to be moved. I don't think the traffic for managers asking to be moved to week two will soak up my storage in my account.

Does anyone disagree with this, and if so, please let me know what I missed?

To Tom re: 24 team leagues:

I too, would personally like a 24 team league. The problem is, if we have say 73 managers signed up, we need to fill three full leagues and then a fourth with 23 fillers. It's just too cumbersome to manage, as we found out last year. I left off the unleashed player set because it would best apply to a 24 team league, where a few extra guys might be helpful. In general though, the unleashed guys are just a gimmick and don't seem a necessary addition to me for the Tour. Apologies to the managers whose favorite player is one of these few guys, and they would really like to use them.

I like it. Really simplifies things. Nice change.

Thanks for taking this on, J-Pav, excellent start to your new career!

Especially like the long-overdue schedule tightening and completing the tourney before the new cards come out.

Your revised signup system is basically the same as Moose's in Barnstormers, which works very well. He requires email addresses mainly so he can prod people to get their teams in, and he puts a lot of time and effort into doing just that.

Hope we can spare you that extra effort by reading the rules, paying attention, and getting our teams entered on time, or paying the consequences. Seems like that should be easy for anybody with the time and interest to participate.

Will miss you as a competitor, agree there's no need for that and would welcome your participation, but hope you have some fun in your new role as Emperor...looking forward to a great Tour under your iron-fisted rule!
