mopping up

I've never bothered to use the mopup setting ... Just curious: does setting a pitcher solely to mopup mean that he'll generally be reserved for that role? In other words, it will keep him out of the game except for when you're already losing a blowout?

I think this was discussed once time long ago, but what constitues a blowout? Seems to me it was determined that "Mopup Guy" was coming in too early in one of our ATG iterations. I dont want to waste my pen if I'm down by 10, but down by 5-6 runs in ATG is not insurmountable. When I set a guy to Mopup, I usually set him to 1-2 IP max............

"I dont always set a RP to Mopup, but when I do"..... 8-)

In a 20xx league, I had a cheap closer with two roles: mopup and (secondary) closer. The mopup role did not affect his closer role; he performed both roles as expected.

I seem to have a vague memory mopup is defined on the cdrom game as up or down by 5 or more. Remember, I did say vague. :D

I don't see anything more specific in the PC game help files than:
Mop up - Try to use this pitcher in blow out games.
