We can't change rules mid-draft. That would be unheard of.

As I said on the other thread, I agree with JMP that the prospect eligibility rule should be more explicit. This was a mistake by me that we should fix for next season (new cards).

And the only reason I mentioned the carded players rule is that this is also not entirely clear in the rules. So if we are happy with only carded players being eligible (I am), then we need to clarify the 'Spring FA Draft' section of the rules. Again, a mistake by me that we should fix for next season.

As we have had what I'll call a back and forth I would like to go ahead and put the rule adjustments or rather rule clarifications that JMP brought forward.

I ask you to vote yes or no on both, need 8 to pass.

I'll only vote if needed.

Rule 1
"Only carded players in the set which we are using are eligible for the free agent draft",

Rule 2
"A player is eligible for the prospect draft if he does not have a card in the current set and is signed by a major league team prior to the draft. If the player maintains rookie status or was a September call up, he may be drafted in the prospect draft."

7. Lakeviewdave - YES, NO

There are 2 rules to vote on. Each requires a response,as Dr. Publix has now setup to make it clear.

IMO drafting only carded players takes an element out of the game
When do you draft the Steve Souza Jrs of the world?
In one league I'm in he went in the 3rd round in another I grabbed him in the 11th....
I think of it as a quasi- equivalent of the rule 5 draft
you can poach a dude from the minors if you put him on your 40
adds a bit of strategy to the draft....

imo prospects should be kept simple
no mlb experience....

I am in a few regular leagues that only allows carded players and there is always a deeper Free agent pool every year so I am all for this league only allowing carded players(nice to have keeper leagues that arent all the same). It really allows a team that had a bad season to rebuild quickly and be competitive much sooner than if we were in a league with a shallower pool.

As for prospects I agree it should stay that a prospect is a player with no MLB experience that is signed prior to the start of the spring Free agent draft(not the prospect draft)
