2010 Keeper League Chat Thread

Please explain the Pompey pick. I do not understand...

Dalton Pompey, CF, TOR has played in the minors since 2010 thru 2014. Last year he played, A, AA, AAA. He was called up in September 2014 to the Paent Club, Toronto Bluejays. He had only 39 ABs. He did not qualify to get a card with SOM. So according to our Rules, that makes him still a Prospect. If someone drafted him last year or earlier as a Prospect and released him, he still is a Prospect as he did not receive an SOM Card in any of those years. I hope this answers your questions.

I simply missed the fact that in this league a player who had MLB experience could be considered a prospect. Would surely have changed my pick. I would have picked Rusney Castillo in the first round...

If a player does get a card do we have to call him up in the next Roster adjustment period, or can they stay on the list indefinitely?

In this league, once your prospect gets a card, you must promote him to your MLB/SOM Roster or release him. When we used the Regular Card Set and a Prospect didn't receive a card, but received one in the Unleashed Set, he remained a Prospect. Really wasn't fair. we went to the Unleashed Card Set to have more players available and the Prospects fell into being promoted as they would sometimes get a card or not as was the case of your boy Checcini. SOM determines the magic # of ABs or Innings to qualify as a card. Don't confuse MLB experience and SOM Card Qualification. Sometimes they work together & sometimes not. I play in a Keeper League with Red Beards that count Prospects as part of your 40 Man Roster, card or no card, and that is 24 Team League, Unleashed Card Set. It gets tricky when it comes to the draft, as we don't have a Prospect Draft. You have to draft MLB Players and Prospects in the Annual FA Spring Draft. Pompeys only MLB experience was those 39 ABs with Toronto from 2010-2014. He did get drafted in that league as a Prospect. Thems the rules we play with. I hope I answered your questions.
