Always tough to watch someone do something you know you could do better. I empathize, il until this year, I too coached for my daughters' rec league softball teams and tries to do much like you did. My girls were never the best players on the team nor did I trade them as such. It's a shame because parents ruin youth sports in so many ways but without the volunteers leagues don't run. I'd suggest seeking out a member of the league board and letting him/her no your issues, it probably won't help this year, but maybe for next season.
