Also, all back ups might be restricted too- say to .60 or less, for the same reasons. (unless platooning)

I don't agree that .54 or less for RPs is more in keeping with the era. After all, the relief pitchers from $2.73 mil on down ARE FROM the era 1920-1955 as set forth by league creator Rosie2167. In addition, the top 9 relievers from that era for price have been deemed ineligible. I don't think any relief pitcher $2.73 mil or less will have a great impact at a $120 mil cap.

As for reserves, I thought that Rosie decided that they should be in the $2-$4 mil range because low priced NeL reserves are virtually non-existent and the idea is to have as much of a level playing field as possible.

It was just a thought, I don't have a high emotional investment in the outcome.

My point was that bullpen's were a low priority from 1920-1955. My assumption being that the general view of relievers were as pitchers who were potential starters or failed starters- hence the low number of pitchers on the staff.

Certainly some pitchers would have good years in that role, but I'm not sure many pitchers were looking to be in that role permanently. I thought it might be interesting to have to do what most teams did, an put a potential starter in the role of reliever- since that's what most of them were.

CT - thanks for the input. From what I know I agree with you about bullpens in that era, but we should allow enough flexibility in the rosters for the owners to put their own stamp on things.

Posting further instructions now...

1. Have the formula be ALv NL v NeL leagues. This would give the negro leaguers more flexibility with rosters.
2. I hate DH, but make it DH, so that the impact of crappy relievers would be minimized.
3. Force teams to have 1 utility player in the 1-5million range- this will minimize the impact of NeL 's high injury chances.
4. Make all other reserves and all RP's be in the .56 or less range
5. 5 man rotations mandatory.

It was interesting but I want use my remaining credits wisely before I give this up. It's been a good seven and a half years but this no longer any fun for me. :(

Congrats to Bernie's Blue Bellies for taking the inaugural :-) NeL themed league. Also hats off to nels52, rburgh and CTS...edging out reggie's grays for the last spot.

Also thanks to everyone for jumping in, providing your opinions and sticking it through. Not every concept is rock solid and while I think this one could have legs it does need some tweaking.

I will dig into the numbers a bit and post those here...but I think its safe to say it wasn't the MLB waxing most thought it would be.

CTS has already posted an interesting revision above so check it out and chime in.

Thanks
Rosie
