i think that the NeL teams are a little short of catching talent, and would like to see '61 Howard used by the NeL teams. After all, Howard did play parts of 3 seasons in the Negro league, from 1948-1950. I think that "61 Howard can be used without expanding the eligibility years for other MLB/NeL or other MLB players, just like Bob Thurman's '57 card is being used. I would also like to see the '57 Aaron card included, as it is a little more balanced than the '55 Aaron card. Fellow HOFers Mays, Campanella, Jackie Robinson and Doby and journeyman Thurman all have at least two cards from which to choose, so why not Aaron?

To whom it may concern: What is the salary cap? Somehow I missed it in all the posts. I want an MLB team so do I have to chose a player over 10 mil??

Hi Ed,

$120 is the cap. Once its your turn to draft then yes if you want a MLB team pick your over $10 mil player then. See the beginning of this thread for the details.

I don't mean to be litigious but: Must I choose a player over 10 million? What parks can the MLB teams use? Also I have been playing SOM online for eight years and, believe it or not, I have never participated in any sort of live draft. I will ask a lot of questions. So please be patient. Thank you in advance.

Hi guys. Heading off to work in a few, where I do not have internet access. So if it gets to me during the day, be patient. I will check in when I get home; likely 5-5:30pm EST.

No worries

No you don't have to pick a player over 10 mil but if you're picking a MLB franchise you do need to pick a Franchise player when your draft position comes up. MLB teams can use any park from 1920 - 1955, not NeL parks. Parks will be unique and drafted after franchises are picked.

I had picked 1955 as the cutoff but not opposed to opening it up on a case by case basis. I'm fine with including Howard's '61 and Aaron's '57. Anyone have any objections?

Rosie, I'm a little confused about the rules.

I was under the impression that those electing to use major league players would be drafting their own teams. However, I've seen you use the word "franchise" several times as well when referring to MLB teams. So the question is, which is it?

Does that mean Musial6, who took Ruth as his "franchise player" over $10 mil must use the Yankees, or is he free to draft any MLB player falling within the league parameters?

If we are using MLB franchises, shouldn't Andy, choosing Hornsby, have to declare whether he will use the Cubs or Cardinals?

Also, if a NeL team is used, shouldn't the 4th player selected be announced when the team is chosen? More specifically, shouldn't nels have selected his 4th player at the time he announced that he chose the Monarchs?

Please let everyone know.

P.S. As of this writing, in the 42+ hours since this ILC thread was created, just 4 picks have been made, an average of more than 10 hours per pick. I hope you remember this when considering how to conduct the 25 round draft and move it to Diamond Dope.
