With all the feedback regarding talent I took a deep dive into the players that would be on the rosters at 100 mil. The biggest discrepancies between the MLB vs NeL teams is the SP's and benches. Due to the fact that there aren't low priced options for the NeL benches what I've come up with is the minimum spend of 27 mil on bench players to essentially allow for the best NeL players but limit the MLB teams.

The parameters are listed further back in this string, let me go grab it and repost for reference.

I modeled out all the NeL and MLB teams somewhat like a mock draft using the top salaries for both, the NeL team salaries ranged from 102 mil to 108 mil and the MLB teams were 115, so seems to prove out 100 mil is a good Cap. In doing so I reaffirmed the potential areas of discrepancy, Bench and SP’s. The minimum bench value for the NeL teams was 22.47. I’m happy to share my spreadsheet on google docs if anyone wants a look.

Here are the player parameters we will use to draft:
• 100 mil cap
• 23 mil min must be used for all Bench, Relievers and 5th SP (even after dropping down to 24 if desired). Which will leave 77 mil max for your 4 other SP’s and 8 Starting Position players
• All MLB Players must be carded for the years 1920 to 1955, except for those assigned to the NeL, which are limited to the years assigned (see expanded list below).
• MLB teams are allowed only 1 player at $10 mil or above
• Relief pitchers must cost $2.73 mil or less
• Only two Bench players below $1.5 mil allowed
• 5th SP on MLB teams must be greater than $3 mil

I just feel we're having to manage salary now more than talent. Maybe that's the intention and that's fine but if my calculus is right: I'm at 36.87 million with 4 players so that only leaves me with 40 million bucks for 8 players, or 5 million per. Maybe the supply will mean for every 7.5 million dollar player we have from now on we'll have a 2.5 in our starting lineup. Otherwise, won't we not be able to grab top Negro League talent?

Overall I think it'll be fine but still just want to voice my observations which I've been holding in while vacationing. I suppose there'll be plenty of 7+mil MLB players in the FA pool so there might be too for the NeL (or 6+mil)

I have an expensive team so far so it's me and the Grays that might feel this squeeze. I like the bench rule but just think the negro league STARTERS should be the best the pool offers.

I had been meaning to ask earlier but may not use this privilege now with the cap tightening but could I use the '59 Banks like how the 57 Aaron and '61 Howard have been added?

I'm open to anything that balances the competitive nature of the league. That said now that this has started its 12 owners that must decide and not just me. My suggestion is let's get closer to filling rosters, pause and assess the cap situation. Might not be a popular step in the process but this concept needs some massaging for it to work in season.
