Negro Leagues vs MLB *MLB Draft time*

If we go to Diamond Dope which could be a good idea, we won't move that way until next week. nothing over the weekend.

BDWard - I have not managed a draft on DD, any help would be appreciated. I'll go check it out and get familiar.

BDW - DD draft looks pretty straightforward. Only 3 of our owners aren't in it so we'd just need them to go signup.

Few initial questions...
what does the Admin have the power to do?
what happens if an owner doesn't get his pick in in the allotted time?
Can the draft be stopped early if we want? Say set it up for 12 rounds but stop it at 10.
Does it have all the eligible players listed?

The DD draft administrator has the power to turn on and off the clock and to cancel a pick if someone changes this mind about a pick or picks an ineligible player. Note that I've been in leagues where all 12 members were listed as administrators, which helps when someone changes his mind about a pick, as with multiple administrators, the draft is not delayed while awaiting an administrator to cancel the pick.

If an owner fails to make his pick in a timely fashion, his pick is skipped and the draft moves to the next pick. However, the late picking owner can make his pick anytime after it is skipped. This is rarely a problem, as most people set up proxy picks or check back from time to time to avoid being skipped.

The draft can be ended early if desired.

All players in ATG8 are included.

I've started to set up the Diamond Dope draft, but cannot complete setting it up until two of our league members, Musial6 and CTStough, sign up for Diamond Dope. It's free, simple and easy, does not require any personal info and uses the same password as SOM. The creator of Diamond Dope, Adrian, is a long time member of the online SOM community and is a GREAT guy.

I agree with Bernie that DD is great, more efficient and faster. But to set up a league, you must select a FIRM salary cap which, at my last reading, we're still waffling between $120 mil and $100 mil. I confess it's quite a challenge for me to draft accurately when I don't know how much money I really have to spend! Perhaps we can nail this down before leaping onto DD.

For easy reference...
Here are the player parameters we will use to draft:
• 100 mil cap
• 23 mil min must be used for all Bench, Relievers and 5th SP (even after dropping down to 24 if desired). Which will leave 77 mil max for your 4 other SP’s and 8 Starting Position players
• All MLB Players must be carded for the years 1920 to 1955, except for those assigned to the NeL, which are limited to the years assigned (see expanded list below).
• MLB teams are allowed only 1 player at $10 mil or above
• Relief pitchers must cost $2.73 mil or less
• Only two Bench players below $1.5 mil allowed
• 5th SP on MLB teams must be greater than $3 mil

Want waffles, go to IHOP. These are the rules as decided by the commish. They seem to be fair to the NeL teams.

Also, there will be a separate RP draft, this draft is for the rest of your team.
