One more question Rosie. Since the remaining bench players must average above $3 mil, are the 5th & 6th SPs considered bench players for purposes of the $3 mil average calculation?

Only two Bench players below $1.5 mil allowed

I don't see this as requiring the bench players to average $3 million. We have 13 players (or 12) including the pen and starter depth that have $23 million (more or less) budgeted for them. This includes 5th SP's, all bullpen and 6th SP's, and bench. 4 of 6 or 5 of 7 bench players must be over $1.5 million. If you went with 14 hitters, you would have $12 million tied up in bench players under Bernie's assumption, and $3 million tied up in a 5th SP. This would leave about $8 million total for the last two bench players and five pitchers. Your bullpen would suck.

The way I modeled it the 5th and potential 6th SP are not part of the 3 mil ave for the high end bench players. Keep in mind the NeL teams don't have low end bench players to pick. So the NeL teams will most likely total just over 13 mil across a back up catcher and 3 hi end bench players.

So yes, it was intended for 4 of your bench players to total 12 mil.

rburgh's math is right and I agree its a tight cap, but I believe the pens will survive. This is one of the reasons I suggested a slight bump in the cap, but a few managers want to stay at 100 so that's cool and we'll all be playing from the same spot.

Willie Mays is on the block for any of the 'colored' teams.

Great team player. Short last name will help with cap space.

Rosie, since it's all coming out of the same pool of money ($23 mil intended for 5th SP, RP and bench players), since the 5th SP must be at least $3 mil anyway, why not let the cost of the 5th SP figure into the average cost of the bench players who are not $1.5 mil or less? That would give the owners a little more flexibility in putting together rosters.

• 100 mil cap
• 23 mil min must be used for all Bench, Relievers and 5th SP (even after dropping down to 24 if desired). Which will leave 77 mil max for your 4 other SP’s and 8 Starting Position players
• All MLB Players must be carded for the years 1920 to 1955, except for those assigned to the NeL, which are limited to the years assigned
• MLB teams are allowed only 1 player at $10 mil or above
• Pure Relief pitchers must cost $2.73 mil or less
• Only two Bench players below $1.5 mil allowed. The remaining bench guys must average over $3 mil.
• All SP’s on MLB teams must be greater than $3 mil
• NeL teams must draft a NeL 5th SP. If a NeL team chooses to carry a 10th Pitcher and that pitcher has a SP rating it can be from the NeL or the MLB set. BUT staying with the intent of this league, that 10th Pitcher value IF FROM THE MLB SET cannot exceed the value of your 5th SP on a NeL team.

My initial reaction is I'd rather not because the NeL teams don't have the luxury of drafting afor example a 6 mil 5th SP + 4 bench players that would average say 2.25. Which is in essence what grouping the 5th SP in with the bench players would do, lower that basis point. The NeL teams are at a slight disadvantage already as I believe their ave bench guys will ave higher than 3 anyway.

Do you see it differently?
