All Time "Cheaters" Team 200M Payroll

PostTue May 05, 2015 6:02 pm

I didn't see a thread like this, and I am sure that there aren't many people who would want to field such a team, but for a measly $200 M payroll, you can field an ALL TIME CHEATERS team. Sell your soul to the devil and lead this team. Coaching staff is probably best the 1951 Giants with the Bossard family as the groundskeepers.

Pitching Staff includes:
Gaylord Perry
Whitey Ford
Don Sutton
Lefty Williams
Eddie Chicotte
Rick Honeycutt
Mike Scott
Joe Niekro
Preacher Roe
Jay Howell

Position Players include:
Benito Santiago C
Mark McGwire 1B
Pete Rose 2B
Ken Caminiti 3B
Alex Rodriguiz SS
Jose Canseco LF
Albert Bell CF
Sammy Sosa RF
Barry Bonds DH
Rafael Palmero IF
Norm Cash OF
John McGraw IF
Manny Ramirez OF DH
Jason Giambi IF DH
Amos Otis OF

The only issue is that I could not find a players card for a back up catcher. But that shouldn't be a problem, because with the steroids on this team, Santiago shouldn't get hurt for very long.... :?

I tried to avoid those who have been named in reports, but not caught red handed. Some pitchers aren't steroid users, but KNOWN to doctor the baseball.

Now, please, I did this out of fun, not to start a fight, or to provoke anyone into a hissy fit. And of course, since I grew up in Chicago, I voted twice for everyone on the list.

This is excellent! They could be called the Slamming Syringes or something like that.

While not technically a cheater, I would have to find a spot on the pitching staff for Dock Ellis, who in a drug-induced rage during one of those hotly contested Pirates-Reds series in the early 70s began a game by deliberately drilling the first six Red batters before getting pulled. Sort of a precursor to roid rage.

In another drug-induced state, Ellis threw a no-hitter against the Padres.

I left off players who we "suspect" were on the juice. Only those who admitted or were ratted out.

As far as Norm Cash, he admitted in a SI article that he used a corked bat much of his career.

As far as Clemens and Ortiz, there's only so many roster spots. I had to make some choices. I never expected everyone to agree on all my choices.

But it is getting some discussion going. :D

What about Ty's razor-sharpened spikes?

And while I'm here, I gotta ask: Can Tom Brady be batboy? (or, better, ballboy, if there is such a thing)
