1990's Keepers cap. League full awaiting draft!

PostFri May 08, 2015 8:23 pm

I have been looking around to join a 90's keeper league. I noticed there never seems to be an opening. Since there aren't any openings I thought I would see if there is any interest in getting another 90's keepers league going?

Basics:
This would be a 1990’s $80M keeper’s league. Starts with a 5 round draft, 4 players and a Park (The park may only be used by one player in the league).
In subsequent seasons, each team will be able to protect 1-6 players with a total value no greater than $25M. A one round draft in reverse order of the standings will be held after keepers and before the "SOM draft."
Divisions will be assigned randomly each season.

I will post the draft order and the rules as soon as I can. It will be on another "clean" post. I do find doing this sort of thing on an iPad is not very efficient but, I will do my best. Thanks to the guys that signed up. It should be fun to see how things play out. I know I'm interested to see if the team building for the subsequent seasons is better or not. Thanks again.

4 down 8 to go. I can't see starting before June.

I did just throw the $20M number out there. I am not sure if that's the right number or not, some research may be needed.

The keeper salary cap is an interesting concept; I'll be curious how it works out. The only possible negative is if it makes it harder to make changes with your keepers similar to the way a salary cap in general makes trading harder. (It may not work out that way at all--just something to keep in mind.)

So, while you're a long way from having multiple seasons under your belt, I hope you'll report back how it works. (I'm in a 90s Keeper League and enough leagues, so I won't be able to join.)

Good luck!

PS. One cool result of the cap is more low-priced, high-value players will be in demand right along with the high-priced guys. For example, guys like Rey Ordonez and Ray Mieske will likely make the cut.

5 in 7 to go.

I think the keeper cap gives a team more options. I am pretty well stuck with my 3 guys in the keepers I'm in. If I wanted to remake my not so good team, what really are my options? Cut my $9.48M guy for a $7M guy? I don't think that will make my team better. But, if I could take that $9.48 guy and take the top two guys available (not keeper) then I've added some depth to my roster. Instead of having 3 of the top 36 players I could have 4 of the top 37 or even 5 of the top 38. Not that it would be a garentee of success, Maybe having 2 of the top 12 would work better, maybe... To me it looks like more options.

I like the idea. It sound like there will be more options. I will check in and see how it s going from time to time. It is almost summer and strat slows down this time of year I have noticed.

I will not be joining as I am in a 90's keeper league already. But, it seems to me that with a keeper cap number you could possibly increase the cap and the number of players. This would make sense if players like Rey Ordonez and Ray Mieske become keepers. Maybe????
