This is why I love using high injury risk players. If they stay healthy enough during the season to get you into the playoffs, you may get REALLY lucky and have them healthy for the playoffs. In that scenario, your team is definitely better on paper (all other things equal) because the high injury risk players are inherently better performers for the cost.

JPav got me curious too, so looked back at my 2013 teams:

47 teams
23 playoffs
11-12 in the semis
5-6 in the championship

And 1 active 2013 team left (in the PC Championship, so hopefully playoff bound!)

Pip,

I agree. I've even reached the point now where I don't even consider the injury ratings anymore. It just has so little bearing on where I'm attempting to go.

Here's a 2013 team:

I was trying to demonstrate that pitchers will bat and play the field when enough players are hurt. I couldn't even get these guys hurt by trying. And irony of ironies, injury risk 1 Carlos Beltran led my team with 30 games missed (two 15 gamers)!

Key,

It seemed to me you were having a better season than that! I'm kind of surprised by that one... :o

Inventiveness is where all the fun is anymore, though, isn't it?

I have reached the point where all my hitters were being used in the lineup. HAL used Max Scherzer to pinch-hit for one of sub-Mendoza line hitters, and he doubled in a winning run.

10 full seasons across all games (small sample size)
5 times made playoffs, 5 times missed
3 times making finals
2 Championships won (one a 93 win team in 60's Mystery, one a 91 win team in 1999)

3 seasons currently going on where I am leading my division in a 2014 league and in 2nd in my division in both an ATG8 and 1986.

I will have my greatest test so far going against a host of expert managers, many of those who are on this thread, in a 2014 league. We will see how good/lucky I can be in this league.
