Garcia's Blog 5/14/15- Updates

PostThu May 14, 2015 3:51 pm

Hey guys,

I'm sure everyone saw the update on the website banner and on the boxscores but game recaps have been added back to the site. Recaps will only apply to last nights games and all games going forward. Recaps will not be retroactively added back to any games that were played without the recaps.

Moving to the card images. Last night we put in a fix that we believe will stabilize the card images and prevent the intermittent problems users were having. What we did was change the way that we fetch the HTML that displays the card. While this new method should fix the problems, if you anyone does see these problems come up again, please let us know! We really do appreciate the messages from the users who wrote in over the past few days detailing the exact problems and which browsers they were using. This information is always extremely helpful to us in order to research and fix these type of problems.

Now for something new, we noticed a thread on the forum mentioning how the league leader CS% were off for Frank Chance, who was catching for a team using his 1903 card. As of today, he has allowed 286 stolen bases while throwing out 64 which should be an .817% opponent SB PCT. However, on league leaders he wasn't showing up under the leaders in Opponent Steals and actually displayed as the league leader in opponent SB PCT at .319%. We did some research of this and due to the programming limitations at the time that the league leader code was written, stolen bases allowed has a maximum of 256 before the leaderboard 'resets' that number. The league leader page will treat the 257th stolen base allowed as the first, 258th as the second, and so on. That is why Chance is on the leaderboard with .319%, it's using 30 stolen bases against 64 caught. The numbers on Chance will still be accurate when looking at the SIM Fielding section of the team stats.

We continue to get requests for leagues where we can provide special drafts for these leagues. This includes allowing a team to draft all 25 members of their team before the second team drafts and so on. We can also set up custom divisions, we have done this for multiple leagues in the past. A user recently inquired about 24-team leagues for mystery games where we currently don't allow that. We could set up a live draft for leagues that would like to do this. If you would be interested in this, please let us know and we can set up a private 24-team league for your group. If anyone has any ideas such as this that they would like to do for their own league, let us know and we'll try to fulfill the request!

That's all I have for today. As always, please e-mail any questions to onlinegamesupport@strat-o-matic.com. I will talk to everyone next week!

-John
