When do you think the manager ratings will be delivered?

I don't think anyone is "hung up" on it. Robert just posted a survey to see if people still think it is coming, since Strat promised it way back during the switch. Do I agree with the way it was calculated? Not necessarily. But, it was there to look at if you wanted. At the very least, as durantjerry said, they should have each manager's record by season (as the old ratings had).

I'd much rather just see everyone's past teams to get an idea of who's done what and then make my own determination. Wouldn't that be easier to do? Just give everyone access to every manager's past team records and results, possibly sorted by set and size if there were dozens of teams?

Doesn't SOM already do that with your 'past teams'? If they could plug that into a more sortable spreadsheet like the players are sorted then you'd know exactly who's done what and how well. End of story :ugeek:

That's an interesting idea. It's not like it's confidential or anything, you can see everyone's teams *if* you can find the league. Why not let people do either a search for players, or make the player name be a clickable link that takes you to their team listing. I would be very interested to see how some people put together teams for different parks and try to learn more about how successful managers play the game.

This wouldn't be a good thing. It would let managers know whom rival managers are more likely to draft and/or pick in waivers. This would affect both drafting and the way managers build their teams. They would start doing so, knowing other managers might see their drafting trends, when they should just be focusing on building the best teams they can build.

Obviously, such knowledge gleaned from actually playing those managers in leagues is fine, but it would be detrimental to both fair play and fun play to provide full information of every managers' past teams to all other managers.

What Knerrpool said...not really hung up on it, but it would a nice feature to have back. What I think would be a nice add on is to have manager ratings with:

Manager --- Wins --- Losses --- Pct --- Playoff Appearances --- Playoff Pct --- Championships --- Champ Pct --- Power Rating

All columns sortable. Filters by card set, by league salary cap, by draft type, etc. The Power Rating would be a rating based on strength of competition (i.e. factoring in the rating of the competition in the league as part of the calculation for each managers teams).

Must have? No, nice to have, for me, YES!

Exactly what I think could be done but without the power rating, I think that's the code that gets complicated. All the other stuff is pretty simple, it's just cumulative. The rating is too subjective. Who's better, a guy who won 5 rings over 150 teams or a guy who won 2 over 10? The old ratings would have it be the volume guy.

I think it would be great to see how other managers construct teams. Isn't that how real leagues operate? I don't think it would have that much of an impact on an autodraft unless you know division teams in advance.

I have no idea how other leagues operate, but it's not how SOM online has operated...and that's a good thing. And, of course, the revelation of every manager's past teams would affect the autodraft. Managers entering into leagues with other managers would know how those managers tend to draft and would likely alter their drafting because of it. In the inverse, managers knowing other managers know their tendencies would likely alter their drafts because of that. Both would be terrible.

If you want to see how other managers construct teams, do it the way everybody has been doing it: play against them and, if you want, take note of who those managers pick. I've never done so, myself, but you are certainly free to do so.

I am going to rock the top ten in winning percentage, percentage of playoff teams, and percentage of championship teams my name is going to ring out,... yo!

I am going to be optimistic about the situation and predict they will get it down sometime in late 2018. :D

I have played in two names I believe, both my names ring out.

I have to echo Blue Turtle's sentiment. The old manager ratings disproportionately rewarded players for total games won and total championships won. So, many players who bought many seasons, but had lower winning percentages, had higher manager ratings than players who bought less seasons, but had higher ones. So, they didn't really tell us who the best, or even better managers, were.

What you say is mostly correct. Where I would disagree is that ratings did have some value in telling you who the top managers were. I have played with most of the top rated ATG guys at one point or another, and while the top ten listed in the manager ratings may not actually have been the top ten ATG managers, eight or nine of them probably were eight or nine of the top twenty five or thirty or even forty best, so being at the top usually indicates some level of competency, but not always. That being said, I just want to be able to see MY record! I don't think that's an unreasonable request at all. How about just some type of sortable alphabetical listing that includes playoff % and/or championship % that those who want more than a simple listing can sort till their hearts content and I can see how MY teams as a group have fared?

I don't think that any rating or cumulative points would tell anyone who the strongest managers are. Not even looking solely at overall winning percentage. For example, 90 to 95% of my leagues are Keepers and ongoing theme leagues. All of these leagues are against long-time wily veterans. I have to earn every win!
There is a big difference between playing in Open Leagues vs. veteran leagues. I know a few esteemed managers who play in a lot of open leagues. That is great, but an old veteran will generally do well in those leagues and pad his stats. No matter how they tweak the ratings, no one will ever be happy with it.

It's called scouting! It's been an acceptable practice in the world of sports (particularly in baseball) since Day 1. If a manager takes the time to scour through someone else's teams, they absolutely deserve that edge. It is earned. Baseball is all about searching out and exploiting tendencies. Every pitcher, hitter, manager, and owner is tasked to do their homework and create a game plan based on that knowledge. In what world does a real-life manager/owner draft in a closet? Everything he does is available to the public to be analyzed. SOM strives to make the game as realistic as possible. Somehow cloaking drafting history goes against baseball to its roots.
If you are too predictable, you better change it up!! Someone might take advantage in the future. That's what its all about.
