5%/ 10%/20%

PostTue May 19, 2015 2:05 am

I am in two 2014 leagues and both have a 20% salary drop right from the rip if you release a player. It is not a big deal because I do not make many roster moves in these leagues but maybe if they were 5%/10%/20% incremental drops I would make a move or two.

What kind of leagues do you prefer? Wouldn't be more exciting to have only a 10% drop throughout or a 5%/10%/20% incremental drops rather than just the boring old 20% drop throughout?

A 20% drop was not enough to keep me out of my most recent leagues I wanted to play but come on guys, let's spice it up a bit,... no? The season can be a little dull once it starts with the 20% drop... :(

I guess I prefer the 20% penalty throughout. Unless someone dumps a guy better than what I have, I tend to consider the guys on FA lists to be inferior to what I chose to start the season with. Having the 20% penalty dings the drop/adders more than it does me, so I think it gives me a little advantage.

Of course, the entire edifice is based on the foundation that the roster I start the season with is indeed the best possible combination of players.

In the 1986 league that we are both in I have been a bit more cautious in my moves. Fortunately I have made 4 moves that have all been favorable to my team. I probably would have cut loose Fred Lynn early on if it wasn't a 20% penalty, that's a bout a $1.4M hit on that move. I am more active in the 5/10/20 leagues and quicker to pull the trigger on an underperformer. I prefer the 5/10/20 so I can do some tweaking especially if I have a big money guy who is stinking it up.

I almost went with the 5/10/20 concept with the latest league I created in which you are a part of but chose to stay with the 20 as I was not sure how well the change would of gone over. Next league will be changed up a bit!
