H&R HR!?

PostWed May 20, 2015 11:43 pm

5th game of a playoff just now, I'm winning and Hunter Pence hits a H & R HR? What rule is this the super-advanced advanced? Forgive me, I started SOM in the mid 60's and the new charts appear to be a mystery to find.

BTW no sour grapes i won this game 5 in 16: http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/game/426449/981

Have no idea how that's possible here's the link to the H&R chart:
http://somonline.wikia.com/wiki/Charts

Pence is B rated for H&R so his best result off the chart is a DOUBLE*** which would drive in the run, the only thing I can assume is he tried to advance on the CF's arm but that would still only put him at 3b.

This one is a head scratcher. :?:  :?

Some readings are still made on the pitcher's card

This is correct. Half of hit and run attempts use the pitcher's card and the other half use the hit and run chart. Furthermore, if I remember correctly, walks and strikeouts on the pitcher's card become ground ball C's. Also, lineouts become double plays, singles become SINGLE**, and doubles become DOUBLE***. However, I can't find the chart online to confirm.

I've seen it happen in the CDROM game. Not very often, but it can happen.

to be specific or if it helps here is the recap description:

0 1 H.Pence h&r Home Run (CF) 1-H b-H F9

On a side but related note why aren't all charts readily available? We're paying to play the game it would be nice to understand the rules we're playing by.

Only when H&R is A or B (after adjustment for holding the running or playing in) if my memory serves well.

Speaking of "infield in" what inning do you set your team to bring the infield in on your strategy page?

The home run was hit off the pitchers card---though you can't see the actual roll (in the play by play) when a H&R is tried, you still roll the three die, if the single die is 1,2, or 3 then the other two die are read off the H&R charts. If the single die is 4,5, or 6 you read the pitchers card as is but all walks and Ks become GBc.

This is where I'm confused the game has gone me because I somehow cannot find the current rules (all of them). The old days (mid 60's) on a H & R you looked at the H & R chart, problem solved... although as I'm typing this I realize: did we play wrong the whole time, - on a 4-6 you look at the pitcher's card
