Larry Parrish

PostFri May 22, 2015 5:54 am

after he has 148 at bats he has 9 doubles , 4 home runs , 8 RBIs , 32 Ks , he has a .237 BA and a .263 OBP... would you keep him or drop him? Now what would you do if I told you he is on his /79 card?...oh yes...I must also add that I'm playing in Fulton Stadium.

Keep him or drop him based on his card. Since you know which year you have, his results should be irrelevant to your decision.

In fact, if I have an underperforming player (with a known good season), I don't necessarily consider it a bad thing. It means if he starts performing as expected--and chances are good that he will--I can expect an improvement to my team, all other things remaining equal.

That's one of the best cards dollar for dollar. To cut him would be utter foolishness.

that's exactly what I was thinking...but it is so very frustrating to have him constantly go 0-fer game after game.

That's really an underachieving season for that card unless maybe your in the Astrodome. Still pretty good for $1.87 though.
Did he have a lot of doubles?

he did manage to lead my team in doubles with 37...and he had an OBP of .303...playing out of Fulton I expected more out of this card...but what can you do right ? ...you either get the rolls or you don't...

Out of curiosity, was his %vL much larger than the 17% on the 79 card? If so that would explain the low HR and good doubles. Also, was he batting lead-off or #2 mostly, or was he in the 3, 4 or 5 spot? He has terrible clutch hitting and that could impact his average.

he had 184 at bats against lefties with a .315 avg. and 348 at bats against righties with a .239 avg. I put him second in the order against left handed pitching and pretty much moved him around in the batting order against right handed pitching because he was playing so poorly. I have been blessed with this card before and he preformed admirably...this just wasn't his year I guess.
