what does this mean / imply?

Game 6 of a championship series, I'm up 6-3, 9th inning 1 out and the below happens (to my opponent) a single and yet an out? Trying for second?

B9 L. Cain 1-7 Single (CF) b-0

Yup on a clean SINGLE( by that I mean no **'s after the SINGLE) the runner has the option of trying to advance on the OF's throwing arm. Batters run rating, minus the OF's arm. There are a few other factors that can come into play, playing the OF in or deep, number of outs etc.

But Cain tried to get cute and advance on a single to CF and the center fielder cut him down. Is your base running set to aggressive?? Cain has an excellent rating at 1-16, be curious to know who the CF was, cause it looks like you were the victim of an unlucky dice roll.

Classic HAL move, down by 3 a base runner gets gun downed on a meaningless base advance/steal attempt.

Not meaningless, trying to get into scoring position and again depending on the CF's arm, Cain has a base 80% chance of being safe.

9th inning down by 3. The 80% chance of extra base is not worth the 20% chance of out #2. I would bet the majority of managers would not take that risk. It's bad baseball.

I am with Scumby on this one. Of course, if the runner had been safe, we're not having the discussion, but if I was bbfan, I wouldn't be too worried having a 3-run lead, one out, and a runner on second instead of first.

I didn't say I'd do it, but lets say he's running against Trout and his +1 arm and now we're at 85%, I'd likely pull the trigger, and I can certianly see how HAL would too. And again it's not meaningless if the guy gets into scoring position and a single gets you a run. I know you need three, but you gotta start with the first one. ;)

no way that would happen in a real baseball game. even 5% chance is too much. outs are all that matter, and you're going to need many more hits to come back. heck, they wouldn't even hold the runner at 1st. they would concede a stolen base of 2nd to "indifference".

My CF was a -2 !, I agree with the posts, no way he should have tried, in this case I was elated but would have been real upset with the tables turned.
