I love doing live drafts, they are a lot of fun. This thread is going to be for signups for the mega mystery live draft. The rules will be outlined below. This has been done before with 3 seasons with good success, so we're giving it another go with 4 seasons this time!
Keep in mind, this will be a very long, time consuming draft, for only the most dedicated of players. Be prepared to check in on the message board regularly and send in proxies if necessary.
The idea is to have a full live draft for all 4 mystery games all in one big draft. When you pick, you choose the player and the player set you want to pick from. So your first pick could be, lets say 80s Brett, and your second pick maybe could be 70s Seaver, and third pick 90s Jeter. Or perhaps you want to sacrifice early 90s picks and beef up that 80s team with your round 3 pick. There will be no rules as to who and when you draft your players from each season as long as you draft the appropriate number of players at the end of the draft and stay within the salary cap.
It would obviously be a 4 season commitment and a very long drawn out live draft because I want to draft a full 25 players and 1 unique stadium per season. Yes, that's a whopping 104 rounds!. Cutting the draft short and autodrafting after a certain number partially defeats what I want to accomplish with this draft so if you're not ready for 104 rounds of awesomeness then please don't sign up.
Also it will be up to you to keep track of who is available to be drafted in each game. Certainly a lot of work.
The rules:
- The draft will encompass every player in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s mystery card games.
- It is 100% your choice as to which season you draft a player from in any given round as long as you have 4 legal rosters meeting the cap requirements at the end of the draft.
- 60s/70s/80s: 10 pitchers/15 hitters/1 stadium
- 90s: 11 pitchers/14 hitters/1 stadium
- minimum players per position still apply (2 catchers, etc:) basically, it has to be a legal team as per autodraft rules.
- For the sake of consistency, I would like 80 million salary cap, DH used in all 4 leagues, but that is up for debate.
- Keep in mind the 60 million cap floor. It is every owners responsibility to make sure you dont draft over 80 mil or under 60 mil.
- Drafting a player in one league does NOT grant you the rights to that player in another league.
- Once the season starts, there are no restrictions.
- Trades can NOT be made between leagues in order to preserve competitive balance. That would only work if this was a long term keeper league.
- It is every players responsibility to keep track of who has been drafted and who is available. There is a lot to keep track of, so there are likely to be mistakes, so we'll try to have as much patience as possible, but be careful.
- This draft is not for the impatient. Expect that it will take a while. I would like to start without a clock for at least the first few rounds, then adding one later on if necessary.
- I would like to start all 4 leagues within a reasonable timeframe. Perhaps start the 60s, then every 1-2 weeks start another league.
I'm sure I forgot to add something. I'll keep updating this post as necessary.
