Rules do not allow for promoting a prospect who does not receive a card, so the options are to either drop a prospect or lose a prospect pick, promoting is not allowable.

The year is irrelevant for this league the way the prospects are. Rules Cleary state that prospects are help indefinitely until carded, then must be promoted or dropped, there is nothing in rules that states that you can promote a pro sect who is not carded. That is the main reason I traded Syndergaard, so I could use both my prospect picks this year, otherwise I could have just promoted one of them and still used my 2 picks.

Dave, you are correct that the year is not relevant to when a prospect must be either promoted or dropped. Perhaps I should have said that WJS6768, tpierce and JMP1 all have players who were properly listed as prospects last season and who are now carded in this season.

Therefore, per the rules, they have no choice but to act on them:
"3) Prospects may be held indefinitely, until such time as a player receives a card, at which point the prospect must be either promoted or dropped"

On the other hand, I still see nothing in the rules that says that prospects MUST be held indefinitely -- simply that "prospects MAY be held indefinitely."
