Starli... Silly ratings guide quibling

It's poor sportsmanship to say when someone bests you in a game to claim that the reason is due to their having an advantage (if it is one) you don't have when said advantage is legal. You haven't claimed you can't afford the $15 for the guide so you are choosing to forego the advantage. It's a game--you use all legal methods to try and win. If you lose, you tip your hat and say good job. Hopefully, you are teaching your 9 year old that whining that other people had an unfair (if legal) advantage is for losers.

You don't read posts very well. I never said anybody beat me because of ratings guides nor said anybody had an unfair advantage. So, the only one whining is you:

I said ratings guides weren't an unfair advantage because they're not illegal; hence, they're not unfair

I also said we should discuss this on another thread, you didn't read that well, either. If you have kids, maybe you can teach them to read what somebody writes before criticizing it, but somehow I doubt it...

Oh, give me a break--why mention that he used a ratings guide unless you are trying to tear down his achievement? That's the point of mentioning it . Oh, no , it's not unfair; oh, no, it's not illegal; look at how clever I am in knocking his achievement and no one can call me on it... The fact that you are doing so by implication and not literally doesn't change what you're doing.

Are you going to complain that somebody plays more than you so that it is inapt to compare them with you ? They don't play in your leagues? You haven't played them enough times? What other excuses have you got?

I have to say, you not only have remarkably poorly read my posts. You have been remarkably obtuse. None of your rant applies to anything I said, particularly my original statement:

If you want to consider yourself a better manager than me, fine...Secondly, you and I have only played in three leagues together, and you did so with help from a ratings guide and I did so without using one. So, such a comparison would be both premature and inapt.

I didn't knock a single achievement here, and I never have. No matter how much you erroneously squawk that I do. I don't know how long you have played this, Freeman. But I've played since the first night TSN advertised it--that's 15 years. I have never said anyone beat me anything but fairly. In fact, two nights ago, I congratulated my division mate who edged me out for a playoff spot:

"Thanks for the responses guys. I had always thought run differential meant the differential in head-to-head. If it means overall, then the Crush did earn the spot after an excellent finish, for which I congratulate them."

So try to get over the upset my original statement caused you; and it clearly touched a sore spot with you. I am starting a new thread about Ratings Guides, and I will address all future posts on the matter there. i hope other posters do the same and let the thread return to its topic.
