First 2014 season/Been told I cant win!!!

PostSun Jun 07, 2015 5:31 pm

Monday night I begin my first 2014 season, and have already been told I can not win with this club. Now that is ok, because I want to see how players perform at different caps. I just want to see how bad I lose.....I believe it is going to take a lot of runs to beat this offense, but will more than likely give up a lot. Hoping my top 3 bullpen guys can get me 100+ innings each!!!

I don't know what your SP free agent pool looks like, but if you swapped out for guys with less BPHRs, I think you'd be a very good team...and I still think you'll have a chance for a playoff spot with what you have right now too.

Interested to see how you do. Good luck!

No reason to have Springer on this roster - upgrade your catchers with Springer's money.

I like your team a lot. It could very well be a playoff team with maybe the addition of a closer. You have some starting pitchers I have been seeing outperform their cards in the leagues I been in. Good Luck

You can win with that team. I don't know if you are asking for advice but I agree with the fellas that although Fister and Shoemaker are nice pitchers for the money they are not right for your park. Here are some other changes I would make:

You don't need Kyle Kendrick. Use that money on a better catcher. I am not a fan of Brian McCain's card for your team. You need a closer,Bruv. The best of luck!

I think I would like to have more power for Miller Park. In a 100 million dollar league and a power park I would like to have better pitching and more power. And I would like starting pitchers to give up a hr much less than once every ten innings. I wouldn't want a 3 at SS with cheap starters in a hitter's park in a 100 million dollar league. You have 4 expensive outfielders--I guess one of them is made DH. What Sean's Rodriguez's role? You need a closer and I think you need to go the super reliever route-- I think I would get an elite closer, preferably a C6. Get at least a 2 at SS. You have 27 players--seems like you should chop that down a few. Consider getting one elite starting pitcher (6 million). With that SP pitching you're probably going to want to have relievers coming in the 5th inning a lot of the time--your relievers are going to get tired unless you have 1-2 starters who can go deep into games. Cut Gardner ( you can get a cheap DH with OB for a lot less) and Rodriguez, swap some low hr pitchers for Shoemaker and Lohse--Fister ok, Anderson might be ok with those backwards number (I have seen some success with Capuano and Garcia but I don't know about Anderson ). I like the on-base from Carpenter and Werth but in that park I would want more power guys so perhaps consider cutting Werth or Carpenter and getting a power guy. If you're not going to significantly upgrade pitching than having three holes (McCann, Reyes and Gardner ) needs to be eliminated.
Just my two cents.

Thanks all.....will keep you updated. Had a good opening night last night, going 2-1 with a game 3 shutout by Shoemaker and my closer Andrew Miller!!

Well, pretty decent first week.....tied for first place at 11-10! It has been all pitching at this point with a 3.72 era vs a paltry .248 batting average. Getting no help from Carlos Gomez (.183) and Jason Werth (.191). No luck with the dice rolls.....393 Batters 442 pitchers!!

Doug Fister is on pace to give up 75+ HR's  And I thought Dan Haren was the gopherball specialist!
