Wow irony of all ironies, MG beats GB at his own game. Beating him by one run in extras!!!!
Now, MG was very good in both, but GB was off the charts!
As it turns out, MG was wrong again with his predictions! MG, who do you have in the Belmont tomorrow? I'll make sure I bet against you.
So, here's how it played out:
Harrison hits a HR on a 1 to get GB his only run. Wow. Now, if he had missed, it is probable that Santana's single that followed would have scored him so. No harm, no foul.
Wieters hits a straight shot 3-4 HR to tie in the 8th and the game goes to extras.
In the 11th, Pedroia hits a 2b and goes to third on a grounder, but gets thrown out at the plate with the infield in. Holt, a 3e27, makes the play! That's NOT very likely as it was a 1-8 single.
Bottom of 11, Trout singles and steals second, but Martinez and Moss both roll on their own cards to no avail.
Top of 12, Harrison and Morneau single with two out, but Santana misses on his own card for the third out.
Top of 13, Pedroia is bunted to second, but gets thrown out trying to steal third 1-14
Bottom of 14, J Roll singles, but Gordon pops out bunting. Rollins steals second. Feliz WP (1-7) Rollins to third. Which is critical because with the OF in, Holt's 6-6 ends up as a single that scores the winning run. w/o the WP, it's just a fly out with Rollins likely advancing to third with Trout at the plate with two out.
What a crazy game. Now it is on to the Rookie versus the vet for the finals.
