Couple different methods of drafting. Not sure which is the most equitable. According to the website I was reading the third choice has only a 2% variation after 6 rounds.

1.Normal Serpentine ("Snake") Draft Order - This is the one that everyone has seen and is the most common draft style. The even rounds are the reverse order of the odd, meaning that if you pick first overall you go last in Round 2 and then first again in Round 3. That order continues back and forth as the draft "snakes" down the draft board, hence the name.

2.Third Round Reversal - Often abbreviated "3RR", this alternative draft method has gained popularity in recent years, mostly because two national contests (NFFC and Rotobowl) have utilized this format in past seasons. Third Round Reversal looks exactly like a snake draft except that the first two rounds are reversed. The person who drafts first in Round 1 goes last in Round 2 AND Round 3, meaning that the person going last in Round 1 goes first in Round 2 and Round 3 - hence the "flip". After that change in Round 3, it continues to snake down the draft board, just like before, so the twist occurs between Rounds 2 and 3.

3.Third Round Serpentine or "Banzai" - "Banzai" is an alternative draft method has gained popularity in recent years. This style is often confused with Third Round Reversal (See #2), but it is actually a much simpler draft format. Only Round 3 is reversed from the original "snake" draft order, so the person going last in Round 1 gets to go first in Rounds 2, 3 and 4. The owner who has the first overall pick doesn't start a round again until Round 5.

4.Double Serpentine or "Double Snake" - This is yet another alternative to drafting where the owner who goes last in Round 1 leads off Rounds 2 and 3, but then the owner who started Round 1 gets to start Rounds 4 and 5. This continues for the remainder of the draft (two rounds match each other in order, then they switch for two) and the draft board looks like a snake draft except it twists back every two rounds instead of one.

Hmm…. Perhaps my brain is not working properly here (which is entirely possible), but wouldn't this draft sequence play heavily in the favor of whoever had the No. 12 pick as far as the player pool is concerned?
It looks as if they would have the pick of the litter in round 2 (Which is essentially round 1 for players), Round 4 and Round 5.

Thanks,
-Austin

Arrgggh! I am so sorry I jumped in. If you guys are going to draft parks in the first round, then I beg you: Don't reverse the last round!!!!! Doing so only made sense if each manager decides when to draft his park.

I agree with the last post. If parks are first round then a straight serpentine the rest of the way is fine.

Personally I would rather go ahead with the suggested order allow BP to be picked whenever.

By shifting parks to the first round you are just reversing the same problem. Now the early round picks are at a player disavantage.

If we used the order below I would much prefer #1 over #12. The park is less important to me than getting players 12 & 13. I think the 12th & 13th best players are a better start than 1 & 24 with everything else being in between. I would like my first and second picks as close together as I can get them.

Round 1: 1-12
Round 2: 12-1
Round 3: 1-12
Round 4: 12-1
Round 5: 1-12 (flipped the order back)

Would doing order A for parks and Order B for players make sense? Or is there a "Snake" option that is preferred?

Order A (parks)
Round 1: 1-12

Order B (players)
Round 2: 12-1
Round 3: 1-12
Round 4: 12-1
Round 5: 1-12

Anyone?

I think parks should be picked in whatever round a manager prefers. Certain managers may place more value on the park than others. Personally, I will likely pick a stadium last all things considered.

I think it would be more realistic to select your "Franchise/Park" prior to selecting your players. But, it is a game so...

First round will be parks. You will have the option to PASS your park pick and make it in the "6th" round. The 6th would just be for those that passed in the 1st round. That would help those that will want to pick their park after the get their "Star" players.

How's that? We do need one more to get rolling?

Not even sure I understand what 'passing the park pick' means. We are making this too hard, about ready to bail on this.

In round 1 (Park round) you may defer your pick until last is you do not want to select a park before you select players.

(i.e. If you do not want the Kingdome unless you get Barry Bonds you skip/pass in the first round then after all the player rounds are complete you will make your park selection).

Sometimes I get in a hurry and am a little to brief.

I am ok with that. No matter how you do it some places in the order are better than others. It will come down to who makes the best of what they get. I hope we get one more soon.
