8.3 million for Brian Dozier:

177/275/298!

I give, stuck with him the whole year thinking the law of averages would catch up, never did!

Yes, but he was batting a "sizzling" .188 before going 0-for-34 in his last 11 games!

And yet he still managed 70 RBI's? With only 106 hits! That's a very efficient .177

Dozier just isn't a very good card and is arguably one of the worst buys in the set. For some reason, some like him and even consider him a "clearly" better card than Neil Walker, who almost always produces well and never produces stats like those on SamH's team.

The STAR tournament ratings have him rated as definitely overpriced:
2b- Dozier and Altuve are behind Cano by 30 spots---their salaries shouldn' match Cano's.

Break down the card:

Base numbers (without looking at ballpark effects) against RHP:

39.5 OB
41.5 OB (adjusting for BP hr of 4 with a Wrigley 11 rating)
43 OB (adjusting for BP singles of 5 adjusted for Wrigley 6 rating)
43/108=.398 OB on his card. That doesn't sound too bad

But 27 of those are walks or HBP. So subtract those and you get a batting average of 16/81=.198
He has about 4 HR (adjusted for park) and 1 2b so you get 29/81=.350

His slash line at Wrigley against RHP is .198/.398/.350

You figure half the time he is on a pitcher's card is going to reduce that somewhat, especially the on-base. I don't think what he did in your league is that out there. I did not look at lefty numbers but he is only a 1l so I am assuming that won't change things that much.

Pick a player from my team. Zorbist was the worst, and look at my pitching staff. Two (2) with 20 wins and Two (2) with 20 losses  SGT D

It seems all the 2B overpriced this year to me--maybe a good platoon for the money would be Gennett and Espinosa (a card like Gennett always scares me a bit as nothing vs LH) other than that--I have been sticking with Gordon and Walker even though I dislike 3 middle infielders--maybe Utley is the best for the $ but I haven't tried for him yet.

But to actually answer your question---NO, I think I have never seen a worse performance for the money spent in the two years I have been playing. I've seen Galvis have better years in my leagues.

I looked at the last three games. Why did he bat 5th vs RH ?? that explains the 70 RBIs

Check out my Sean Rodriguez in the same league on the Ray Guys. Similar batting stats except for hitting 34 HR to Dozier's 15, and for 1/3 the cost.

Thanks for the feedback, I agree there is really nothing out there for 2B at high prices, a low priced platoon is probably the way to go with the 2014 set.

i wouldn't rigidly commit to a low-priced platoon if I were you, although it is definitely a viable option. Cano isn't a terrible buy at his high price. I've never gone out of my way to get him, but I've had him on two teams and he's done well, as well as doing solid for other teams. I also have some particular favorites in the 5-7.5 range that others like as well. As far as the lower cost 2bmen, Panik and Wong are both great buys.
