Carlos Carrasco is pitching every fifth day for this team, plus being used consistently in relief, so much so he won 3 games in a 4 game span. Boxes below:
It's absolutely fair, excellent sportsmanship, and also pretty smart. He's just savvily playing by SOM's rules by which we all play. And even if he get's hammered the next game--which is far from guaranteed--the games Carrasco won would make it worth it.
Yes, I know. Of course that's why I said it's worth it to counter Scumby's tempering claim he'd get hammered. And extra edges the rules allow are what we all try for; it's a key part of the game.
I wouldn't call it an extra edge. He was used as the 7th RP both times, it doesn't appear to be a setting. The guy has Sanchez and other true RPs. I would expect him to be put in at a lot at F0 if used regularly in relief plus as a SP.
That's an issue of semantics. If by "extra edge," he meant an edge outside fair play, then you're right; it's not an "extra edge." But if by "extra edge," he meant an edge beyond those capably ascertained by most managers in one's league, then it is an "extra edge." as is any advanced strategy rarely conceived by most managers.
Well, it's not an extra edge anymore now that we all know about it...I'll have to try it out sometime--it appears to provide a significant advantage (even if we assume that it's something like having half an elite reliever in addition to being a starter).
It's a strategy more commonly used in ATG when fatigue levels for RP are much higher. It's not easy to pull off. I am skeptical it can work in 20XX. The FO will show up quickly and be deadly.
