With the draft completed, let's see if we can resolve the rule changes, too, okay?

* * * * *

When the Deja Vu league converted from a retro keeper to a standard one, the rules expanded. As the C'est La Vie League converts, following the 2013 and 2014 seasons, similar added rules would look like this:

- We will become a "standard" keeper league in 2016 -- playing with the 2015 card set -- with 2 seasons played per card set.

- Effective with the 2015 card set, we will start the annual free agent draft on April 15.

- Effective with the 2016 card set, we will arrange the draft sequence of the annual free agent draft with the order based on the combined win-loss records of the 2 seasons for each card set.

- Effective with the 2014* card set, we will hold a prospect draft after the annual free agent draft, with managers drafting up to 2 prospects per year -- prospects are those players who have never received a card yet and draft sequence will be random and serpentine.

- Prospects may be held indefinitely, until such time as a player receives a card, at which point the prospect must be either promoted or dropped -- with managers holding no more than 4 prospects at any one time.

- Effective with the 2015 card set, we will hold a supplemental draft between the 2 seasons, in which managers may drop and replace up to 2 players, with draft sequence based on the win-loss records of the first season -- managers may opt to not participate in the supplemental draft.

* The Deja Vu conversion timing would have called for the prospect draft to begin with the 2015 card set. Since many managers had not been drafting for the long-term (since this league had been scheduled to terminate after the 2014 card set), I believe it makes sense to start the prospect draft a year earlier, to help those with a sincere need for future talent.

SHALL THESE EXPANDED RULES BE ADOPTED FOR THE C'EST LA VIE LEAGUE?

1. tcochran - YES
2. willmurr24 - YES
3. Ninersphan - NO ( as written, see above)
4. thechamp87 - YES
5. Spider67 - no vote - I will not continue beyond the 2014 card set
6. WJS6768- YES
7. TPierceRSN - YES
8. MG - YES

My vote is yes.

But I would like to suggest instead of a completely random initial prospect draft why not some sort of weighted lottery?

Just for the first one and we can base it off the win totals for the current season. That way there is some balance to the team's more in need of a rebuild than others have a better shot at a higher pick? Yet it still leaves the chance of anybody ending up anywhere in the draft order.

If you do like it I already found a site that can do the lottery selection.

Just a suggestion, either way I am good.

Think NBA or NHL draft. They use a lottery system to determine the first pick.

For example, in the NBA, it went the Minnesoga Timberwolves had the worst record in the league, but only a 25% chance at the number 1 pick. The 2nd worst team had a 19.9% chance to get it, and 3rd had 15.6% and it goes on down from there including every team that didn't make the playoffs.

Another is the NHL, the 3 worst teams were the Sabres, Coyotes and Oilers. In their lottery each team had a 20%, 13.5%, and 11.5% chance of winning the lottery and such on down as in the NBA. In this case though, the Oilers, with just an 11.5% chance won the lottery.

The numbers would need to be tweaked since in both of those there are 14 teams that don't make the playoffs and we only have 12 teams altogether, but since I brought it up I'd be more than happy to do it, or at least help.

Just thought it would give a little plus, or bonus if you will, if a team does poorly currently rather than it being completely random.

If you want to play around with what I mean check out the website I found.

Pick weighted or custom and you might be able to get a better picture of it.

I like it better thN random. Still think it should be based on record like the free agent draft. His suggestion at least gets us closer to that so I'm all for it.
