Interpreting Fielder's Choice for Mystery Card

PostWed Jul 01, 2015 1:36 pm

Need some expert Mystery Card interpretation.
Runner on 2nd and 3rd - no outs.
Wathan gets injured on a Fielder's Choice vs. LHP in the 7th Inning. Runner on 3rd scores, Runner on second moves to third and Wathan reaches 1st and then is removed for a PR'r w/ injury.
His card has three gb +injury years:-
gb(3b)A+ injury,
gb(2b)A+ injury
and
$3.gb(2b)B+injury
My understanding is that the gbA's would mean the batter is out.
The gbB (soft grounder could result in all runners being safe?
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

+ means automatic single if infield is in or a runner is being held. I think all three of those years are still possible.

I believe he has the gb(2B)B year. On a groundball A, runners simply hold. On a groundball B (or C), runners may try to score.

Also, it's confusing that SOM uses the annotation gb(2b)B+injury. Here it is using the "+" to simply mean "plus" [i.e., groundball (2b) B plus injury].

A true gb(2b)B+ (or A+) does result in a single if the infield is playing in. That is not the case in your example. Also, please note that a groundball B+/A+ does NOT result in a single if a runner is being held in the super advanced game--only in the basic game. However, to repeat, the "+" only means "plus" in this case and is not a groundball B+/A+.
