And I also think it would be nice to break down the categories of how hitters do against high priced pitchers versus low priced pitchers and the same for pitchers against hitters. And how many pinch hitters are pulled when hitting lefty and how often when a lefty is brought in and HAL switches to a RH pinch hitter I would like to know how often that results in a hit and whether I win the game or not. And finally I would like to know when my hitters stats are more than 2 standard deviations away from expected results over the course of a season.

And I think Joe the Jet's ratings should be built into the free agent pool so everyone could know what the best player for a given park and set of opponents is. Suggestioins of the statistically best player available should be made available based on the remaining schedule and parks to play in so that when my player is performing outside the 2 standard deviations I could pick him up, and this should all be automated so I would not even need to see my team to have these changed implemented.

I would like a report texted daily to my IPHONE of the progress being made with my team.

Right but you kiss the ground Adrian walks on for his diamond dope that Strat inc....You remind me of our political parties...Strat can do absolutely no wrong and the opposite party is to blame for everything.

You know I've always been an assh_le butt you've really turned into one.

One of the reasons Strat is so popular, at least with those with a long time addiction, is how it feeds the J. Henry Waugh Syndrome--the illusion that we are dealing with human beings, rather than probability distributions. An example of a probability distribution is a Strat card. It's like a roulette wheel or a crap table. It has no memory, or sense of where it is in some scheme of things like "a batting order". Some pseudo-random (see my earlier of Dilbert in Accounting, commenting on their RNG) process leads to an outcome in the probability distribution. If a series of outcomes strikes us as unfavorable to our interest, should we change to a probability distribution even less likely to favor our interest? Only if we believe Eddie Mathews is fkg up, which J. Henry would understand and sympathize with :D Moral: We buy probability distributions, not outcomes.

Good post on the distribution probability. After reading that my first thought was Nev knows this. My next thought which followed very quickly was did Nev post question of switching to Buck Wheezer just to see how many people would bite and say yes.

Hey Charlie-

IF IF IF the results would be an exact match for the dice roll then there would be no need for ANY OF THIS- but since that is just NOT THE CASE- Yeah, we really could use it!

And the people who want all these stats are the people who refuse to look at statistics mathematically!

At what point does something that should "probably happen", but more often than not, "does not happen" should we stop saying it "should probably happen"

I mean by definition probably needs to be probably or it shouldn't be called probably.

and as far as the mathematics go...when something happens as it pretty much should according to numbers...the math guys go "see the numbers are correct"....and when the numbers are totally skewed the math guys go "well it's an outlier, or it's too small a sample...that's a good one, the whole "too small a sample"...because apparently for the math guys it's too small a sample until the numbers become what they 'should be'...example...way back in ATG2 when someone complained of terrible production after half the season "penngray" would say "too small a sample it's just half a season" it will all even out by the end of the season...when it was an entire season of poor production...meaning it didn't even out... penngray would say it's too small a sample just one season out of thousands...LMAO
