RP pulled after one batter

PostFri Jul 10, 2015 1:43 pm

In BTT90s possibly my best relief pitcher, Brocail, was pulled after throwing two pitches. Was it because I assigned him the Middle Man role? He's no longer the Middle Man after this.

If I have a great reliever (read: super reliever), I set him not to be removed before F8.

Also, if I have a cheap, backup closer, I also set him to not be removed before F8. Why? HAL used to pull my second closer after one batter and put in the first guy. Problem was, the first guy was coming in at F0 (which is why the second guy was pitching to begin with).

Thanks but this didn't work too well. He wasn't pulled even though he was getting hammered. This POS game is so frustrating.

I'm sorry you're having a bad time of it. However, the game gives you more control of the bullpen than almost anything else.

However, this extra control means you also have the ability to make bad choices with your bullpen settings. Without seeing a screen print of your bullpen settings and assignments, I don't know this is the case for certain, but I have never seen HAL leave a reliever in at F0 for so long.

Good lord. I guess slow hook is a bad idea too. Brocail is getting hammered.

It seems that HAL was scared of Dykstra and wanted to go with a left-hand pitcher so badly, he didn't care about Brocail's middle man designation. He didn't care, either, that Dykstra excels against left-hand pitching. If that same scenario came up 10 times, it's possible Brocail would have been left in to face Dykstra six or seven times. Who knows. I've had many middle men that keep pitching all the way to the ninth inning no matter what the L-R match-up is, so what happened here might have been an exception, rather than a rule.
