I don't claim to have been here since '02. I have been. And I never said I disliked any commissioners, including you.
I already showed you I answered your question, you just failed to read it, and one doesn't have to be commissioner to help the tournament.

The fact you can't see either is truly strange...and telling.

And the only "frantic" point discussion was yours, since you were the one who got frantic in your posts. And I said I am here for the same reason most others are here. I care about next years tournament I plan to participate in. If that's not good enough for you, that's not my problem.

Strether,

You're in a forum thread I opened, you understand that, right?

It's about the tour.

You rarely have played, you don't want to lead, and you don't want to help (and you can help several ways without accepting commissioner duties) and you think I'm a frantic poster to top things off. I ask again, what are you doing here then?

When you start a discussion, I have posted zero times on that thread. Why can't I get the same courtesy in return?

Refer back to my last post to Keyzick, J-Pav...it certainly applies to your post.

I'll be back when people are actually discussing next year's tourney: the actual purpose of the thread.

Strether,

How come no line-by-line this time??

J-Pav---I think you've run an excellent tourney thus far, except, somehow, you have figured out how to make my teams finish 82-80 every season

Anyway, I just wanted to add that I have enjoyed the season thus far as is. I know there has been some good discussion about possible changes and I'm good no matter what happens, but, I, personally, quit reading this thread at about page 5 when I person took it over to respond to every single post with an encyclopedia  I would like to apologize to everyone who posted, but, I probably just won't put myself through reading this thread.

Whatever changes occur, occur, but, hopefully, you stay on as commish because you were/are great!

Funny, but I don't feel dismantled. 8-)

Seriously though, my win over Marc in Event 1 is highly relevant to this thread. Marc's team won 96 games in that league, and my team (same division) won 86 to secure the wildcard. My 'inferior' team beat Marc's in 6 games to win the crown.

I've known luckyman for a long time, and I know how good he is. I also exclude him from what I'm about to say, because I know he disagrees with the current point system, and he is obviously a winner.

In my opinion, all that matters is winning the ring. Any chat to the contrary makes me chuckle. I can't help but feel that the tone of this thread smacks of sour grapes. What I'm hearing is a handful of managers who reckon they are the 'elite' circling the wagons, making sure they don't lose their place to the undeserving underclasses.

Winners count their rings. Losers count their regular season wins. Dan Duquette anyone?

Who would that be exactly--the self-interested supposed elite who advocate for a system where they don't get penalized for their inability to win the play-offs? From those that have been complimentary of the system, Stoney and I won a ring in the first round, Keyzick won the whole thing last year, Scumby, Jr and J-Pav made it to the semi-finals last year...
If you're going to be cynical about why some managers support the current system, you might want to check to see if they fit the profile.

Not receiving points for not making the playoffs is no more of a "penalty" than not receiving 90 points for not winning 90 games is a penalty. They are both the absences of rewards given to those deserving the rewards. If a team doesn't make the playoffs or win the finals, its manager shouldn't receive the points given to those who do. So, his not receiving them is not a penalty.

Ask managers who used the same stadium twice; they know what a real penalty is.

Well put. If anything, I and it's safe to assume you guys too, want a system that is as fair as possible to everyone. I made the Barnstormers semi-finals last year as well which has a massive bonus point system. There have been numerous threads started by J-Pav regarding the scoring system. Many comments PRIOR to the tourney start. Perhaps it is the ones who make comments after winning a league that should be suspect.
