I did think of it, Bernie, but I thought it would be too strong a combination. I tried to avoid matching two squads that had players from all four eras because there weren't enough to give every franchise two; there just aren't 24 franchises with those profiles. I was not able to avoid it entirely and then I tried to get the pairings in some combination that was in sync to the theme. That's why the "Sox" combo was formed; as the CWS are usually avoided in the franchise drafts, I thought it was the best choice to do that with hence the "Candy Cane Hosers."
The concept was enjoyable to try, but finalizing it was a bit like Rubik's Cube. Underlying everything was an attempt to get as much parity as possible, because everyone groans about getting pick #12; by keeping a few squads in the FA pool to go with the NeL players and then doubling the FAs for the bottom half I thought was the best way to accomplish that.
