If you don't agree with what I wrote, Niners, then argue against it. Otherwise, let''s move on.

And now Tejeda is finally pinch hitting for Flores, so perhaps the deal is finally official.

Although Latos has had a poor year for the Marlins, he has had a spiking in velocity and could help LA at the back end of the rotation behind Greinke, Kershaw, and Anderson. Velocity spike aside, it is still disappointing to see Latos' career at this point, considering he and Bumgarner were once the two best minor league pitchers in baseball. The Dodgers also, reportedly, receive a competitive balance draft pick, which is also a nice addition. Morse seems to have minimal use for the D's and could be released.

The Marlins return is obviously not clear yet. However, they did dump the majority of Morse' s (who had lost his 1b job to rookie Justin Bour) contract, which should help them in the off-season. They also end their frustrations with Latos' season. They gave up a solid young starter--Anthony DeSclafani--for him, thinking he would flourish at the front end of the rotation. Instead he went 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA...hardly what they (or many people) were expecting from him.

This deal was further expanded this evening as the Atlanta Braves joined in, sending solid Lh starting pitcher Alex Wood and relief pitcher Jim Johnson to the Dodgers for Cuban 2b Hector Olivera and Rp prospect Zack Bird. Wood is a huge pickup for the Dodgers, adding another lh starter to slot behind Brett Anderson. And Johnson, who has been excellent this year, joins Howell, Jansen, and Baez in an already strong bullpen.

The talented Olivera immediately becomes the Braves 2bman of the future, even with Jose Peraza in the minors. He has legitimate 20-20 potential when healthy and could be a fixture in the Braves lineup for years. Bird is a big young righthander, who was the Dodgers' 19th top prospect and throws hard, but needs to work on his command.

No, you didnt'. After my last two paragraph response, all you said was:

"You win again

How silly of me."

That's not arguing against what I wrote.

Flores had actually been moved to 2b he's at SS tonight to give Tejeda a day off as they really don't have another SS on the roster, something they'll need to address one way or another assuming this deal is in fact final. Tejeda has reall started hitting more like he did three years ago the season Reyes left and had assertive himself as the everyday SS. With Wrights injury Murphy moved to third from second and Wilmer to 2b. The Mets have used Johnson at 2b the last three games so yes the a question of Johnson and Uribe freed up either Murphy or Foores to be moved.
The fact they've used the players this way doesn't change the fact that the acquisition of those players didn't "free" Flores to be moved in an important trade. As I said before, they already had Murphy, Tejeda, Herrera, and Cecchini. So to get Gomez, they would have made do without Flores.
As for the Mets opinion on Lagares, perhaps they weren't expecting as much power but if you check their stats (Gomez's and Lagares') at he same points in their careers they are remarkably similar.

Power is a big part of Gomez' game; so, if they were expecting Lagares to be Gomez, they would have been expecting power. And having same stats at the same point of their careers is irrelevant to their actual potentials...which are different. Greg Maddux had similar stats with lots of bad pitchers at the beginning of his career; it certainly didn't mean they had the same potential.

Here's the post again. Feel free to actually address it this time.

Why? You only discount everything anyone says that is different from your viewpoints.

As Einstein once said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

You win.

I'm done having conversations with you that have different opinions because you only value your own.

You asked to move on. I'm moving on.

As I said you win again

How silly of me.

How many times do you need me to say it before you let it go. Do you really need your ego stroked that much??

Back to trades:

Texas get Hamels and Diekman

Phills get:

C- Jorge Alfaro
OF Nick Wliams
P Matt Harrison
P Alec Asher
P Jared Eikoff
P Jake Thompson

PHEW quite a haul.

I look forward to your analysis

Holy crap. Sandy Alderson just met with Mets beat writers and said there is no deal and one will not transpire. This after Carlos Gomez had posted on his own social media accounts goodbye pictures with his Milwaukee team mates. Leave it to the Mets to make this Bizarro world.

I'm not required to agree with you, Niners. The fact you think I am shows you need your ego stroked. Disagreeing with you isn't discounting everything you said. You certainly didn't agree with what I said, so I could say the same about you. And if you think I value people's opinions less than others, please show where you or others have agreed with me anymore than I have agreed with you. You can't. And I'm fine with your not discussing with me. After your rudeness to me today in numerous threads, I'd appreciate that. So, I look forward to your not responding when I address your posts.

That being said, it's clear you can't counter what I posted. If you could, you would have and wouldn't care what I wrote in response.

So, I'm moving on, as well.

ed: I missed your dramatic and lame "ego" comment. Asking you to either argue against what I wrote or stop making frenetic, snarky comments is hardly asking you to "stroke my ego." It's asking you to debate me like a grown-up or move on. I certainly didn't ask you to repeat your contentious, insincere "you win again" phrase. That was your choice.
