Here is my problem with the word RACIST.

If it offends me it must be racist.

I cant stand Obama as president I must be racist. I have no problem with anyone naming THEIR team whatever they want to I must be racist. The word Ni^^er can only be used by certain people and if I use it I must be racist. If I talk about people coming over the boarder without proper papers I must be racist. It doesn't matter if they are breaking the law I must be racist. Wanting people that come to this land to be US citizens I must be racist.

I don't really give two shits why people do what they do or why. I just move on and find a way to live my life the best I can and give my children the best chance to succeed.

I never look at anyone by their color but make no mistake I can spot you a mile away when you are a gang member or a skinhead and when you play the game for food stamps and not looking to work. That's not color that's just people from all over the rainbow taking advantage of what this country gives to those that lay on the couch and wait for the 1st week of the month to run out to the mailbox and earn a living.

If this offends you than I must be a Racist or you could have entered you might be a redneck and that guy has made bank on that! See the similarity? I didn't think so.

Interesting post. I just have two questions:

Outside of the rhetorically referential way you used it, how does a white man use the n-word without it being racist?

Unless they're wearing they're "outfits," how exactly can you spot gang members and skinheads from "a mile away"?

I drove a cab in a major city for 13 years. It taught me much about people and how to size them up fast so I didn't get robbed or killed. My dads night partner wasn't as good as I was as we buried him. I find people easy to read now.

You didn't answer my first question, so we'll just agree a white man can't use the n-word without being racist.

And you didn't answer my second question either. You just explained the origins of your avowed ability to size up people. You didn't say how exactly you spot gang members and skinheads "from a mile away." If you can't do that, that's fine.

I think whoever made up that team name had a goal of creating some discussion and perhaps some controversy to make people think, and get their blah blah's going.....K is just a strikeout by definition ... and if you have more than one ... it just adds to the K fun ... maybe his next team will be MLK

I cant stand Obama as president I must be racist.

If you can't stand Obama simply because he's black, then yes you would be a racist. On the other hand, if you can't stand him simply because you've been drinking the Fox "News" Kool-Aid, then no you're not a racist.

I have no problem with anyone naming THEIR team whatever they want to I must be racist.

I believe SOM online should be family friendly, so I do have a problem with certain names. Maybe K** *** doesn't offend you, but I hope there are some names you think are inappropriate. Even if anything really does go in your eyes, I believe many people (most?) would agree that K** *** is not appropriate.
I don't really give two shits why people do what they do or why. I just move on and find a way to live my life the best I can and give my children the best chance to succeed.

I think the world would be a better place if more people had this attitude but only up to a point. We will never unanimously agree exactly where the line should be drawn, but there are lines that should not be crossed.

Also, based on comments people have made about the coach, I don't think the team name was motivated by racism. However, his team name has no more place in a family friendly venue than say a team name like the Nuremberg Nazis or the Savannah Slave Owners.

I'm going to give this up as a misinformed person. I don't think it should be allowed, and SOM has already changed the name

My thought it, what is this was a youngish (18 year old) from say... Korea, who never knew the history of America or the meaning behind what those 3 letters together mean. I will just leave it at that.

by the way, one of my fav's since someone mentioned Fox News

Fear not, fellow managers. Strat-o just changed his team name to literally, "Team Name".
