That's very articulate and incisive commentary, Stevie. It is amusing seeing words elude you...;)

Yes Steve, if I was LA's GM I'd offer Kendrick a QO to nab the draft pick when/if he departs.

From an article on MLB.com

According to MLB Trade Rumors, the list (as of Saturday night) of remaining players who have cleared revocable waivers includes Aaron Harang, Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval, Starlin Castro, Austin Jackson, Jonny Gomes, Dexter Fowler, David Aardsma, Edward Mujica, Fernando Rodney, John Axford, Jose Reyes and James Shields.

Will any of these get moved? As I understand the trade would have to take place before midnight tonight for the player to be eligible for postseason play.

Also wondering about this statement.......

Speaking of playoffs, to be eligible for any postseason game, a player must be on a Major League active roster (or the disabled, bereavement/family medical emergency, paternity, suspended or military list) as of midnight ET on Aug. 31, or be under control but on optional assignment.

Does that mean a player like say Joey Gallo could participate in the AAA playoffs, be called up mid to late September and then be eligible for Rangers playoff roster?

I would say yes to all of those players you mentioned except Sandoval, Castro, Ramirez, and Sandoval...and Rodney was already moved. I particularly see teams looking at Harang and Jackson for help, considering their fairly low contracts, and everybody needs another starter and a solid defensive fourth or fifth outfielder down the stretch. Nobody is touching Sandoval, Ramirez' or Shields' contract, although there was a very sensible Sandoval-for-Shields rumor going around, and the Cubs have no viable replacement for Castro...they're not going to gamble on the average-defending Baez to be ready.

As to Gallo, I do believe he will be eligible since he was already called up. i wouldn't bet money on it, but all players who saw playing time before Sept. 1 should be eligible.

Well, it's always cool to be prescient. A half-an-hour after my last post, the Cubs acquired Austin Jackson from the M's for a player to be named later and an international bonus slot. With Soler, injured, Fowler could move over to right, making room for Jackson, and/or Jackson could face lefties in a platoon with Fowler in Cf. Either way, it's an excellent pick-up for the Cubs and their bench going into the end of their playoff hunt.

Venable is winning me over. Did not realize how good he was on defense. He hustles and give max effort on every play. Hopefully the other OFers are taking notes. Another player I would love to see them keep around next year, especially if they could talk him in to a one or two year deal allowing them to be patient with the prospects that are hopefully on the way.
