It will be interesting what goes into "changing" a card.

- Will fielding ratings change? SB ratings? Or just the hitting columns
- Will it be based on Season To Date performance or just the most recent x number of ABs.
- What will be the initial card baseline? 1st 100 ABs? When will the changes start affecting the card?

Definitely a different gaming experience. More interesting the more I think about it.

You did Wavy, a lot of the ratings come out of a think tank based on Glen Heads view of things, like fielding.

Generating ratings could become more of an algorithm since so much more data is available, but SOM has always presented this as a competitive advantage over other sims, so it's a foundation of the brand.

And better yet, will the salaries for free agents change as the season progresses?

Will injuries freeze a players card or take him out of your online lineup? If he goes on the DL we'll need a minor league team!!!!

Hmmmm...

This sounds interesting and I will give a team a try, but I see outlier cards being very prominent unless something special is done about them---for example

A guy has a killer April, gets hurt--You get to keep that card for the whole season??--Or a very low use sub is 4/10 with 2 HR --and you get to start him every day.

Why are there still ballpark effects on the card if it supposed to replicate actual current stats?

(fantasy is more drastically changed by current results, and besides, it only follows 4-5 stats). Entirely depends on how they regress the performance.

Not necessarily. In my fantasy leagues we use 15 offensive/defensive stats and 15 pitching stats.

Sounds interesting to me! I'm in a couple of keeper leagues, and it might be fun to watch how my keeper team is doing during the actual real life season!

But I'm a bit of a geek I think... :geek:

My guess is their base algorithms are pretty close to what they want. They do run through many replays of the entire season with the cards before they are released however, and change clutch, defense, etc to get the replays as close as possible to replaying the actual season the same as it played out. That's probably where the real time is spent.
