Do you know 2 other teams were caught with balls much lower than the Patriots in the last 2 years and got fined about 45k? That's it.

Then somehow the "evil" Patriots get caught A) barely below (not the amount falsely reported) and B) explainable by the weather change from going inside to outside in that weather. and they get fined way more, lose draft picks and the QB suspended for 4 games?

If you can't see (like the Judge could, easily I might add) that this was a fallacy of a smear job, then you have problems.

Facts outweigh what people want to believe in this case.

and it's good so Brady will hopefully have no injury on his card next year (see Strat related :P)

Why didn't the weather effect the Colts balls also?

As any male and/or Seinfeld fan can attest, cold causes shrinkage. Maybe this says more about the Colts than Brady and the Pats (says the Clevelander, who attributes at least part of Browns fans' suffering to the chain reaction started by the Colts packing up in the middle of the night and leaving Baltimore)

Why did The Pats ball guy take the balls in the bathroom? Of course they cheated and not only should Brady be fined and suspended so should Belichik. And if nothing wrong was done, why was the ball guy fired. The Pats are known for their cheating, they are cheaters!

well-played.

I am not a big Brady fan but fairly flimsy evidence (hearsay) isn't enough to suspend him for 4 games. Spygate isn't even a related issue.

I am also confused by the fact that a referee touches the ball on every single play - why aren't the refs held accountable for under-inflated balls? I have my referee license for basketball and when I ref, even at elementary school basketball games, part of my responsibility is to make sure that the ball in play is legal (right size and properly inflated).

Risden, I agree completely. I officiated HS football and almost all levels of volleyball. In both it was easy to tell if the balls were too hard or soft. In HS football it was always an issue (freshman equipment managers, lol) and we would swap out the ball before winding the clock.

If the pro refs didn't pick up the difference placing the ball, it couldn't have been too extreme. Rules are rules though!

Here's a scientific view of the pressure difference and effect. http://www.popsci.com/simulations-revea ... difference

I'm just glad its over with. Although I do think a 4 game suspension is ridiculous when Ray Rice knocks out his wife/GF on video and gets 2 games. It should have been a fine, a slap on the wrist and back to football. Godell has to go. He has given the league way too many black eyes the past 5 yrs. Nobody should have too much power for too long.

My take on the whole thing was Brady got suspended for not cooperating with the investigation. Had he cooperated from day one probably would have received a harmless fine.

I say harmless fine because as I understand it when a sports league fines someone the money goes to their favorite charity. So if say Brady was planning on donating a million dollars to charity this year and get fined $100,000 all he has to do is designate that money to the charity he was going to donate to anyway and write a separate check for the remaining $900,000. It is nothing more than an extra entry in his check book. But from a balance perspective has absolutely no impact.

I first realized that several years ago when I heard Mark Cuban discussing another of his many fines from the NBA.

I always wonder where the money went thank you. I am glad it doesn't go in the owners pocket.

I just laugh when I hear people say, "Goodell made a lot of money for the NFL".... I wasn't aware the NFL was having money issues before Goodell.

A reporter asked Tom Brady point blank, "are you a cheater". Brady laughed and then hesitated and then said, "I don't think so". Does that sound like a person who is not guilty?

Why was the ball guy fired if nothing improper was done...

I hear people ask, "does a slightly deflated ball matter"? You better believe a slightly deflated ball is easier to grip. In the past Brady has mentioned preferring the softer balls.

Some say, well the Patriots won that game by X amount anyway. Sorry but that is like saying, well that woman was about to die from cancer anyway, right before I hit her with my vehicle.

Lastly, the Patriots are known and convicted liars and cheaters, period. Did I just prove they cheated again, of course not, but I do not have billions of dollars to complete an investigation like the NFL.

Bottom line, Belichick and Brady will always have a taint on them. I hope Brady has a career ending injury this season and I hope Belichik gets crabs.

This may be off topic a bit but do you realize the NFL is classified legally as a," non profit"? The ultra rich (creepy) NFL owners benefit more from American socialism than all the welfare recipients combined.
