So, if I pick the Angles, can I pick Reggie Jackson, but us his 1969 A's card?

Reggie - yes.
Bonds - no. All cards used must be in the time frame so we can't use the 2004 card but can use the 1969 card.

Precisely right ! The only cards in this set are 1968-1995. It's a special card set. You won't find any cards that are not in this 1968-1995 time period . You can see the link to the special card set on the previous page.

no cards outside of 68-95 can be found so no one will accidentally get a 2004 Bonds for example.

I like all the rules you set Geoff. no more than 2 taken in a round from a franchise, 7 total, no trading "rights" etc.... working it all out I don't even think a supplemental draft will be necessary, but it's there if needed.


CTS, yes you can use a year that is not carded to your player (for example you get yankees, you can use Reggie's 69 A's card)....you were right on that one.

I know from running numerous drafts for 12-team ATG leagues that what we are proposing is, for all practical purposes, what will "feel" like a 12-round draft. I think we need to start immediately or we will never get through. This process is like herding cats for the Commissioner. Not advocating skipping anyone at all, just reminding folks to check in often. Nothing is more frustrating for a manager to go AWOL for two days while you're trying to run a draft.

One mild concern I have, that I'd like to share:

While I still think there is a decent free agent pool, I realize that the player salaries in the player pools are a bit thin at three positions, I think:

-shortstop
-second base
-catcher

There are a good number of excellent fielders and some good hitters at these positions , but there are only a few at these positions that are both good hitters and good fielders . So the competition for good players at these positions may be significant, and some franchises might have to "make do" with some players, and/or use some cheaper platoons.
