How do you hit and run?

I have 7 players set individually to Hit and Run more.
My team strategy hit and run is set at very aggressive.

Results, 1 hit and run attempt in 6 games

If you post a link to your team I'll give you some more thoughts.

I suspect you're doing most of these things, but this works for me in term of having teams hit and run a lot:

1. Be sure to place H&R B rated players behind players with good stealing ratings.
2. Don't have stealing set to "aggressive". Set it to "normal". I've even heard some managers say to set stealing to "conservative" if you want more hit and runs, but I wouldn't go that far.
3. Don't have bunting set to aggressive. I set it at normal.
4. on the hitting strategy page, set H&R to "more" for the players that you want to hit and run.
5. H&R occurs more often, and works more effectively, against weaker pitchers, especially pitchers that are poor against the handedness of a batter. So a lefty doing H&R is going to do it more, and more effectively, against a pitcher who is not great against LHB.
6. Relatively speaking, H&R doesn't work as effectively when the pitcher gives up more walks - there's a conversion chart on the H&R game chart for what happens with certain pitcher card results. I'll see if I can find that and post a link.

I'll look for some links, and maybe (if I can find one quickly) a team of mine that had a lot of successful hit and runs.

This isn't exactly on topic, but I'm not a fan of the H&R, so let me ask those who like and use it why it's a strategy they like.

My quarrel with the H&R goes something like this:
1. No walks
2. Lower than normal BA
3. No homeruns
4. No triples
5. Fewer doubles
6. Runners steal w/o a good lead (if pitch is missed)
7. More or less in summary, most hitters in SOM leagues are very good hitters by normal baseball standards, even in 60M leagues. So does the H&R pay for itself in a context of where most hitters are good to excellent?

I'm an OBP guy, so the loss of OBP makes it hard for me to use the H&R. After OBP, I'm an SLG guy, so even with a small-ball team, I feel that by losing BA, triples, most doubles, and the handful of HR a small-ball team will get, I'm losing SLG as well.

So I'm gaining some runner advancement and slightly reducing my DPs, but I'm losing a lot of OBP and SLG, which for me are the core of an offense.

Is there something I'm missing that makes the H&R an effective strategy?

The information above is not always rights. Many people forget that triples and homeruns (as well as non-K outs) obtained on the pitcher's card are not changed in the SADV hit-and-run chart. So a hitter can still obtain a homerun or a triple on the hit-and-run.

Moreover, all readings on the defensive charts also remain as is.

So it's only when the results on the pitcher's card are: double, single, walk, or K that SOM discards the usual result and rather looks at the hit-and-run chart. So if a pitcher has tons of Ks on his card, you might very well end up with more singles and more doubles chances by opting for the hit-and-run.

So in my opinion, in some specific contexts, say against Pedro Martinez, the hit-and-run option becomes quite attractive: Pedro issues very few walks, so you don't lose much onbase by opting for the hit-and-run. Virtually all non-defensive-chart-outs on Pedro's card come from the K, so these are all potential chances where you can obtain instead a single or a double. And you still have access to the (few) triples and homeruns that the Pedro cards allow.
