A few more examples and I'll drop it if no one else sees my point.
For my club, the Dodgers. If Milwaukee hadn't been chosen I go from competing with the Brewers for Sutton to losing him in the first 3-7 picks. And if the Angels hadn't been selected Singer and Messersmith were up for grabs.
If the Giants weren't chosen but the Pirates were Barry would've been taken with the #1 pick in the 5 round draft and the Pirates would've been like...WHAT!
Lastly what about Rico Carty and Reggie? If the Angels and Indians go unpicked are those guys available in the 5 round draft too since they are a part of a FA franchise?
IMO all the above penalize the franchises chosen when I would think those guys were part of the reason those franchises were selected.
Ok whew, done
I have to agree. I thought that the only Free Agents in these 5 rounds are players who were ONLY carded to the 2 teams not chosen. For example, because the Rangers weren't drafted, the Cubs went from competing with 1 team for Fergie Jenkins to competing with 23 teams. I don't see how that's just or how it makes any sense.
