One more very important rule -
In any given round of the 5 round player draft, no team can "lose" more than 2 of the players carded to their franchise in the card set.
So, for example, if in round 1 of the player draft, the Cubs pick Andre Dawson, and the Dodgers pick Mike Marshall, (both players carded to the Expos as well as the other clubs), then NO MORE PLAYERS CARDED TO THE EXPOS CAN BE DRAFTED BY ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE REMAINDER OF ROUND 1.
This does impact on the player pool available for teams at the remainder of that round.
This rule resets after each round. So, if Gary Carter had not been taken by the Expos with their round 1 pick, in round 2 (with the serpentine draft order), the Mets could take Gary Carter (early in round 2). But the Mets would not have been able to take Carter late in round 1, due to this rule.
Furthermore, no team can "lose" more than 7 players carded to their franchise during the 5 round draft. That means that if the Expos had 2 players carded to their team , taken by other teams, in each of rounds 1 through 3, and then one more carded Expo taken by another team in round 4, then no more players carded to the Expos could be taken for the remainder of the 5 round draft.
Finally, if any team loses 7 players carded to their team during the 5 round draft, then they can make 1 additional pick in a supplemental round. All of the same rules for the 5 round draft apply to the supplemental round. The player taken in the supplemental round will be considered a core player for the team making the supplemental pick (even if that player is taken from one of the 2 unused franchises). That supplemental round pick must be placed in the 6th slot in the autodraft player rankings.
