Hardest players to get in the draft

PostSat Sep 12, 2015 2:51 pm

I would like to get everyone's thoughts and start a discussion on the hardest players to get in the draft. I have been playing STRATOMATIC for quite a few years and these are the hardest to get in the draft from my experience. I could be way off but thought it would be fun to start the conversation. No right or wrong here and based on opinion and experience but here we go:

1. Hornsby
2. Ruth
3. Cobb
4. Maddux
5. Walter Johnson
6. Ted Williams
7. Bonds
8. Aaron
9. Musial
10. Honus Wagner

You might have to ask Divad the Trademark Man. He may have tried to copyright that information as well.

I presume you're talking about $200 MM AD. I would guess that Bonds and Hornsby are the most frequent top of the draft card selections.

If everyone would stop putting the following players on their $200 mil draft card, I might be able to finally get one of them:
Ruth
Bonds
Maddux
Hornsby
Williams
Gibson

Those guys are always on the wire in the $60M leagues in which I play ;)

At $80M (which is what I play) you can get any of 'em. Of course you can't afford all of 'em either.

Would be an interesting exercise to take as many as you can...and see how it goes.

Let us know how that works out;)

I would suggest Willie Mays needs to be on the list based on the difficulty I've noticed in trying to draft him and the number of trade offers that seem to pour in whenever I do get him in any of the higher caps.

I play in mostly $100m leagues now and I sometimes hesitate to even put Hornsby or Cobb or Ruth on my draft card because I feel like if I go for one of those, I won't get them and then I will lost my chance of just drafting a balanced team with several guys that are just a little lower in stature to those top guys. I guess I am saying that it is kind of a gamble going for those top guys but sometimes the gamble pays off like my current team when I put Cobb first on my board.

At 100 mil there is not risk in taking any of these top draws. If you miss you are going to get a solid consolation and there are going to be plenty of great higher price cards out there before and after waivers. Should have no trouble recovering from the draft miss. It is at 200 mil or above you want to think it through a bit more because the consolations are going to be less impressive.
