I would support that too.

Assuming the lottery-adjustments only occur to the first round of the drafts, I have added 2016 FA draft and 2016 Prospect Draft sheets to the googledoc and noted any traded picks. I will continue to modify this as necessary through the offseason, and before the drafts next spring I will add whatever FA additional picks are necessary (Rounds 11+) to get all rosters up to 30 players.

I think I just threw out a state that didn't run a lottery last time, but I think this works, particularly since we'd need to go deeper into the lottery list to find the 3rd slot.

Have I mentioned how much I hate this lottery. Such a pain in the and I doubt it has deterred anyone from dumping players. I'd suggest a vote to nix it, but it's been taken twice(?) already.

I'm Ok with dumping the lottery, for the following reasons:

1. The medicine is worse than the illness. The lottery is not likely to deter a team from tanking (see below), but it is likely to penalize a truly bad team that randomly loses the first overall pick.

2. Our group of managers tends to represent some of the best in online strat. While we might trade current value for future value (this should be OK), we are very unlikely to deliberately lose games ("true" tanking).

3. I think most of us would agree that this group takes pride in their victories, and takes umbrage at their losses. If we had a situation where true tanking was occurring, it would likely be obvious to all of us, and could be dealt with by other actions of the commissioner.

Re #1, I think I was the random beneficiary of the first overall pick one year, or maybe the second overall pick. I accepted the benefit, but it didn't feel right to me (if I can say this now). I would rather see the team with the worst overall record reap the dubious but tangible reward of the first overall pick.
