Waviers Needs Updating

Why do we need 48 plus hours between the auto draft and free agency? This has always driven me crazy.

Waiting for leagues to fill is the worst. Need to attract more managers.

Great way to do that would be to lower prices!!

$16 is too much.

$10 to $12 increase in volume would more than make up for the loss in $ per unit.

Because it takes some guys over 24 hours before they noticed the league drafted. It allows time for the guys that are away from the computer for long periods of time.

This may have been true years ago but nowadays 'almost' everyone has instant internet access from just about anywhere. Maybe it is time to change this. But then again, it's a change that not everyone will want to get used to.

WE need to ask John for a 24 hour waivers option

While instant internet access from just about anywhere might be true (and I'm not entirely sure it is, having just experienced difficulty while on a road trip from several locations), having access to the internet isn't the same thing as having time to access the game and make reasoned selections for waivers. I doubt I'm the only guy playing whose job has crazy hours - I need a little flexibility and 24 hours won't cut it. I'm don't mean to inconvenience anybody, but that's just how it is. If there's a change to shorter time for waivers then I won't be playing much.

I can easily see why a shorter period would be very problematic for some. While having internet access has become a lot like having a microwave oven (a necessity of life) still not everyone does have it 24/7. I have minimal data plan on my phone because I see paying for unlimited internet a waste of money. Nothing happens in life that I have to constantly read emails and check all my social sites every 5 minutes when I am out living life.

So a league fills and drafts I probably do not find out about it until the next day when I read my email at work. And it is later that evening before I have a chance to take an hour or so scanning other teams, the waiver wire, and making decisions on my selections. I usually also send out a few trade offers. I want the targets of those trade offers to have time to see them and consider them and maybe respond with some negotiations.

Seriously, a season lasts 8 weeks. If you are good a couple more. 10 weeks, 70 days, that extra day waiting for waivers is just over 1% of your season commitment. I have a hard time sympathizing with those who claim that is a hardship.

Call it a very minor inconvenience as the price of being able to get along with others and make sure nobody is at a significant disadvantage. In the dark ages it was referred to as sportsmanship.

My 2 Cents

PostMon Nov 02, 2015 10:02 am

What I object to is waivers running on Sunday night and starting the league the next day. I often travel for work, most often on a Sunday to be at a site for the week, and I have only Monday morning before I head out from my hotel to deal with the fallout from waivers AND prep my team for Opening Day. I'm sure I can't be the only one.
For leagues that Autodraft on a Friday, having waivers run on Saturday still allows sufficient time for everyone to react, especially given that it's a weekend when people generally have more time to access the internet and prepare.
I'll stop whining now...

My only issue with waivers is that they run at 5 PM Eastern time. Not a great time for anyone working the "9 to 5" schedule.

If I were to change anything, I'd lean to 9 PM Eastern for running waivers. I like the "waiting period" for waivers to run, so I can have time to assess how I did in the draft and what strategies I would like to take on to improve things.
