My perspective:
Regarding the "rare bug". This quirk of the game is as old as the game itself. It's been around for almost fifteen years. That some players are not aware of it does not make it rare. The conversations with regard to it's "fairness" were already old when I started playing in 2002. While it's not for me (and others), it's liked by Marc (and others).
It's no more "unfair" than super-relievers, all 0.50 starting pitching or all-injury teams. The argument can be made that in a "tour league" situation, even one extra win might be the difference. Although, if a manager wants to exploit a feature in order to win more than what would be his usual share of the first three of 162 games (1.8%), while risk losing players in the FA pool, that's on him. But again, this feature is available to any manager who wants to utilize it.
Not being aware of a feature does not mean those who are aware of that feature hold an unfair advantage.
