Geoff's golden era II NOW DRAFTING IN THE ILC FORUM

Hello everyone. Thanks for answering my questions. I've been getting a lot more info at the threads for the prior league. They can be found below at the following links

It seems that the rules haven't changed at all, except for possibly the 5 round player draft.

I can't really pick my team until I have clarification from Geoff on the rules So Geoff, regarding the 5 round player draft:
a. Is it in reverse order of the franchise draft?
b. Will it be serpentine or NFL style, with teams picking in the same spot every round?

Please let me know so that I can get my franchise picked ASAP and move this along.

i sent geoff a text to confirm this, but I believe it is:

a. player draft in reverse order of franchise draft (geoff already confirmed this)

b. regular draft (non snake draft)

in that case, BDWard, go with what I posted above.

1. Franchise Draft then 5-player FA draft in Reverse order.
2. FA draft will NOT be a snake draft (not my preference, but that's what has been posted and agreed on by most)
3. Maximum numbers of players lost per round still...
-3 for the first round
-5 for the first two rounds
-7 for the whole five rounds

4. all other rules are same as 1st go round. ask if you're unsure and I'll give a clarification.


also, I'd like Guy/Falcon to assist with this as he and I talk a lot and I'm pretty sure he's got all the rules down pat as well.

2) move the compensation pick to the end of the round your franchise loses the threshold.

Waiting until the last round proved non-impactful "

Geoff's response was...
I agree with both of these suggestions. So when you hit your limit of 7 dual carded player losses, in that round, you make a compensatory pick.

Paul, I'm not sure that I understand scumby's question. How about giving an example of such so that all of the new managers, myself included, understand. This game is tough enough as it is and I don't need a further disadvantage imposed by lacking a clear understanding of the rules. Thanks for your help. - Bernie

Let's say that the White Sox and the Brewers are not drafted. Then you can pick any player from these two teams and from your franchise team, and only from these teams. If you pick up Frank Thomas, then he's part of your 15 core players. After the 5 rounds, then you must only place players from your franchise team in the 6th to 15th draft spots. If you're interested in Chi Sox' Jorge Orta, then you must have him at the 16th spot or lower, and he won't be part of your 15 core players.

I think that is fine....to have the compensatory pick at the end of the round in which you lose your 7th guy. Probably won't happen until round 4 or 5, but that seems to have been the intent when it was discussed.

so add that to my post above....all other rules remain intact.


the other change (not really a rules change) that should be mentioned is that the playoffs will go back to a regular 24-team playoff format. Divisions will still be made to closely reflect the divisions of the time period, but rather than only 4 playoff teams (like 1st edition) we will use the normal strat playoff set up for a 24-team league.
