It looks like I made a big mistake in leaving Pete Runnels off the original list of Senators. The Senators should have a chance to protect him.

We need to pause the expansion draft to see if Crusty wants to protect Runnels. Runnels wasn't on the list of unprotected players so he wasn't officially available. That pick may need to be repicked.

Franky - I also noticed that Joe Hoerner wasn't on the list. I checked and he started his career with Houston.

Commissioner Ruling:

The original rules state: "The players in each franchise are listed below. " Runnels isn't listed below. So, absent a ruling from the Commissioner, he isn't yet available.

First, I'd like to hear from other teams in the Central whether the Senators should be allowed to have him. If somehow that figures into whether they would have wanted to be in the Central, then I might just exclude Runnels. If the other teams in the Central don't have a major objection based on fairness, then the Senators have original rights to Runnels and the decision whether to protect him (and unprotect a currently protected player). In that case, ycbill will have to repick his 2nd pick.

I also found Stan Williams left off the list.

Joe Hoerner gets added to the Astros.

I thought I remembered putting Hoerner on the Cardinal list, but he isn't there. I just left him off and he does belong to the Astros where he started his career. Hoerner was drafted by the Astros from the White Sox minor league organization in the original minor league expansion draft.

The original major league expansion draft was for the Colt 45s (renamed the Astros) and the Mets.

So. it's nice to see we're repeating a bit of history here. I'm sorry for the Pete Runnels confusion. It was my mistake. I think that the best decision is to award Runnels to the Senators (pending comments from the Central).

Stan Williams is awarded to the Dodgers. I figure he probably won't make their protected list since it is going to be tough for him to crack the starting rotation. but hopefully djkalle will check in an confirm that.
