The 5-Round FA draft will be in reverse order of the franchise selection and is NOT a snake draft.
Remember:
1. You may select any player from the 2 unpicked franchises and from then on he counts as a CORE guy for your franchise. In this scenario, you could draft Jim Bibby and use ANY of his cards as the Indians were not selected. This is important as you must maintain 15 core guys from your franchise throughout the season. These 5 FA picks can be traded AFTER the draft is done (the picks cannot be traded, but the players you pick can be after the draft is complete). If you choose to trade one of these 5, however, they do NOT count as a core guy for the team you trade them too (unless they are also carded to that team). In other words, Cle didn't get chosen and you draft Sam McDowell, he is now a member of your core franchise and counts as one of your 15. If you trade him to me, he still is a core guy for your franchise, not mine, and I don't get to count him as one of my 15.
2. You may select a player that is multi-carded to your team and another. For example the Pirates may choose Barry Bonds, thus locking him up and insuring that the Giants can not get him. This is how many of these 5-round picks will go. This is a chance to lock up key players for your franchise so that you aren't fighting for them in the Autodraft later.
3. You may select a player that is only carded to your team. This is a rarer move, but sometimes practical as there may be no players that you'd want from the undrafted teams and/or none left that you need to lock up. In this case, your draft is essentially done and you're just filling the spot.
4. Maximum numbers of players lost per round still...
-3 for the first round
-5 for the first two rounds
-7 for the whole five rounds
5. If/once you lose 7 players total, you will receive a compensation pick at the end of the FA round in which you lose your 7th player (round 3,4,or5)
**make sure that after your pick, you put what other teams could have claimed your player in parenthesis. This helps us to make sure we know the max lost list.**
Happy Drafting to all, and please ask if you have any questions and Falcon and I will try to answer/resolve any concerns.
